Hello BHS. As you may or may not know, I have been the Senior Editor-in-Chief of this Newspaper for the past year. I mostly work on proof reading and layout, as I’m not always the best at putting my thoughts into words, but as this year draws to a close, I feel as though I should try to express everything that I have been feeling these past few months. For the first few years of high school, I saw my senior friends graduate and dreaded the day that I would follow in their foot-steps. I’m a very emotional person, so a year full of lasts sounded like it would be a never-ending period of sadness for me. What I didn’t realize was that all of those lasts came with just as many firsts. As one chapter of my life comes to an end, another begins. While I am sad that my time here at BHS is over, I am overjoyed to start the next chapter of my life. After much deliberation on the sub-ject, I finally decided to attend Carnegie Mellon University in the fall and cannot wait to have new and exciting experiences there. High school was full of ups and downs, and while I have no doubt that college will too, I have confidence that we will all survive and become better for it. Good luck to those of you who are continuing your high school experience, and to those of you moving on to the next chapter of your life, I wish you every success and happiness. Emily Getty Editor-in-Chief
Dear Berwick High School, As I begin my preparations for college, my mind is flooded with beautiful memories from the Berwick High School Music Depart-ment. Who would even begin to think that a single wing in the school could hold this big of an impact? I am so grateful for the memories, the growth, the knowledge, and the friendships that I have been blessed with from this department. When I joined the band in fourth grade, I never imagined that it would lead me to my lifelong friends, musical growth, and amaz-ing opportunities. Whether it was marching or concert band, I was always happy. The gruelling rehearsals, the challenging music, the busy schedule-it was always worth it. When I joined the chorus in fourth grade, it opened many new doors for me. Who would think that I would compete at the region-al level, accompany for a large chorus, or become a respected Mod-ernaire? While it could be hectic, I loved the choral department and everyone in it. I joined orchestra in seventh grade, not thinking anything of it. I bounced around a few sections, starting off with cello, switching to viola, coming back to cello, and even occasionally playing piano. Orchestra was always the underdog ensemble, and never failed to impress our audiences. My experiences in orchestra always had me re-enrolling every year. As I go, it hurts to leave my underclassmen peers behind. To all of the young blossoming musicians, never doubt yourself. Go out for the solo, audition for districts, become a Modernaire/Modern-knight, try out for that lead role. There is so much ahead for you. Enjoy those 90-degree rehearsals, the 10-hour District Pre-Aud days, the after-school rehearsals. I know it will seem torturous at the time, but you never know how much you will long to go back. This Music Department is so incredibly talented. Whether it is the band, the chorus, the orchestra, or the cast of our musicals, I am al-ways amazed with what my peers and I can put together. Berwick is gifted with excellent musical faculty that is dedicated to helping students find their ultimate musical potential. I will always remem-ber these takeaways as I embark on my collegiate journey. Thank you for the music, BHS.With Gratitude,Maya KileFeatures Editor
Senior Editors say farewell
Student Times · Final Farewell Graduation Edition 2021 13
Class of 2021 members reflect on their cherished memories“The years were
rather hectic, but we dealt and had fun along the way.”
-Krisham Perez-Guzman
“I really enjoyed my senior year. It was a lot of work, and I’m
happy I made it!” -Gabe Conrad
“Don’t worry about the little things in
school so much. They don’t matter in the
end”- Caden Reader
”Do not rush high school, but enjoy it.”
-Julia Frankford
"Senior year was defi-nitely unique, even though we came in
with no expectations for this year, we still got to do things such as homecoming, but it was still unique.¨
- Jake Lanning
“Always ask for help. Help is available to
those who ask…This is why I’m glad I
had Mrs. Calarco for College Writing. I
wouldn’t have been able to do this with-
out her help.”-Sara Shultz
¨During my senior year, I realized that you become an ex-ample to the rest of the school, and it’s the last chance you
have to make memo-ries doing things
that you may not be a part of in the
future.” -Isa Segura-Suaréz
“My senior year wasn’t what I
expected, but I was happy with how this
year turned out considering the
circumstances. Ber-wick
did more than what a lot of schools did for
seniors.¨-Aubrey Steber
¨Senioritis is a real thing, even for good students, so just get
by.”-Gianna Miller
My Advice to Future Classes would come from a quote from
Leonardo DiCaprio::
“You never know what hand you’re gonna get dealt
next. You learn to take life as it comes at you, to make each
day count.” -Regan Metz
¨Do everything while you can, because
I did all the stuff I could do and it is
very helpful. Don´t fit into social clicks
either.¨ - Jake Lanning
¨Life can change in a second, so take ad-vantage of the mo-
ment and enjoy high school to the fullest.¨
-Maria-Gabriela Segura-Suaréz
“This year has been challenging in nu-merous ways, but I ultimately think it
helped me grow as a person.”
-Tanner Allen
Advice to under-classmen
“Protection and power are overrated. I think you are very wise to choose hap-piness and love” -
Uncle Iroh-Maya Kile
¨My advice to fu-ture classes is to
cherish every mo-ment you have with your friends because
after high school you probably won’t
speak to any of them.¨
-Lexie Nevel¨My favorite memory at BHS was being a
part of the marching band.
I´ve loved having wonderful experi-
ences with awesome people!¨

MAYA KILEFeatures Editor On May 15th, 2021, Berwick High School held their Junior/Senior Prom at the West Side Grove from 6PM to 8PM. Earlier in the week, the 2021 Prom Court was announced. The court included Kennedy Brown, Analiese Eisenhauer, Genevieve Johnson, Maya Kile, Jacqueline Nevel, Abigail Seely, Ciara Yoder, Isaiah Bomboy, Hagen Carroll, Logan Noroski, Caden Reader, Cody Smith, Devon Smith, and Logan Witner. At 7:15PM, the crowned royalty was King Devon Smith and Queen Jacqueline Nevel. The theme of the night was “The Roaring 20s”. Although it was an outdoor event, the grove was decorated in an elegant white and gold theme. There were tables for light conversation, and a dance floor for the party. Prom favors were also distributed as a memorable token for the evening. Despite having an unconventional school year, there were many smiles to be seen at prom. It was a great night for everyone, and the student body is very grateful to have been able to celebrate it.
