It is an exciting time for Zeta as we continue “Building on the Principles of Zeta While Blazing New Paths”. We are pleased to host the 2018 Grand Boulé in New Orleans, Louisiana, also known as the “The Big Easy”. The Boulé theme is “THE ZETA WAY • Sisters Loved | Principles Lived | Paths Blazed.”

Your official 2018 Grand Boulé Workbook provides important information to assist your preparation for the convention. This workbook should be copied and shared with each financial chapter member. Please read the contents of this workbook carefully and adhere to all instructions and deadlines. Late forms will not be accepted. Please direct all your questions to the National Headquarters staff.

THE ZETA WAY

The old school/new school stroll-off competition will showcase teams demonstrating their agility, creativity and understanding of rhythm and dance as they show precision, synchronization, originality, and showmanship.

QUALIFICATIONS• Each participant must be a registered Boulé attendee.

• Each participant must be a member of a financial chapter or auxiliarygroup.

GUIDELINES• Each group’s routine must be a minimum of 60 seconds and

cannot exceed 3 minutes.

• Your introduction, show, exit are all to be included in the 3 minutes.One point will be deducted from your final score for every minute thatexceeds the allotted 3 minutes. Note: Time will begin once the firstperson steps on stage or when the team’s song begins, whichever isfirst.

• All teams must have a uniform that is tasteful and befitting to finerwomen.

• All music is to be free from explicit, profane and vulgar lyrics. Please beprepared to provide your music in MP3 and a CD backup. Provide 2copies of the CD one for the show and one for pre-screening purposes.

• Profane, vulgar gestures or movements during the show will lead toan immediate disqualification. Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporatedreserves the right to disqualify teams with inappropriate uniforms,routines including vulgar language, or for any reason it deemsnecessary.

• The order of appearance will be determined by a random drawing atcheck-in on the day of the show. There will be no swapping of timeslotsor altering of time slots.

GRAND BOULÉ AWARDSMOD March for Babies - Awards will be given to chapters, auxiliaries, individuals, states and regions who raised the most money during the 2017and 2018 national campaigns based on fundraising totals provided by the National March of Dimes office.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – This award will be given to the chapters, states, and regions who raised the most money during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 sorority year. Reports from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or Z-HOPE reporting will be used to determine winners.

Z-HOPE – This award will be given to the chapters who have the highest number of Z-HOPE points earned. Regional Z-HOPE Coordinators must submit the national Z-HOPE report to the National Z-HOPE Coordinator at [email protected] by May 31, 2018.

American Cancer Society – This award will be given to the chapters, sorors, states and regions who raised the most money for Relay for Life and/or Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Refuge System – Chapters that have visited a Refuge since Boulé 2016 will be recognized. Chapters must submit the Z-HOPE Reporting Form by the requested deadline to their State Coordinator. Include the name of the Refuge, city and state. To confirm receipt of your chapter’s participation, contact Soror Rauchelle Jones at [email protected] by May 31, 2018.

Excellence in Elder Care Programming Award – This award will be given to chapters completing their one required women’s program and one required senior’s program based on the Z-HOPE reports submitted. The programming must pertain to one of the four areas outlined in the Elder Care Initiative. It must be creative, informative/educational and enhance the well-being of seniors mentally, spiritually or physically. Chapters should list any funding or grants received for their program, sponsorships and collaborations. Submit documentation which will show the breadth and depth of your programming. Examples: flyers, programs, pictures, newspaper clippings, etc. to Soror T. Diane Surgeon, Esq., at [email protected] by April 15, 2018.

Membership Awards - Membership awards will be given based on criteria established by the National First Anti-Basileus.

The Best Dressed Nest Award – This award recognizes Nests that embody the “spirit” of a Nursery. All Nests should be attractive, inviting and encouraging to mothers. The following judging criteria will be used:

• The Nests must have reported in 2017 and 2018. Nests which opened in 2017 are eligible.• Offered both the required education and incentive components.• Used the required Stork’s Nest curriculum.• Submitted pictures including more than one angle of the Nest. Pictures should include inside and outside. All submissions should be sent to

Stork’s Nest Award – This award recognizes Nests that have shown exemplary operational procedures while providing service to our clients. At a minimum, the Nest must provide documented poof of outstanding management, marketing and implementation of the educational component and execution of the incentive program. Friend Lullelia Walker Harrison Service Award –The Friend Lullelia Walker Harrison Service Award will recognize the Zeta Amicae Auxiliary that has provided twenty-five and fifty years of continuous service to the Amicae and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. This award will emphasize the importance of the auxiliary in helping Zeta Chapters provide service in their communities. Friend Mary Breaux Wright Friendship Award – Friend Mary Breaux Wright Friendship Award will recognize the Zeta Amicae that have provided twenty-five and fifty years of continuous service to the Zeta Amicae Auxiliary and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. The award will recognize the distinguished years of service, skills and talents of the individual members of the Zeta Amicae Auxiliary. The Amica Mary Frances Hinton Community Service Award – The Amica Mary Frances Hinton Community Service Award is an award for an auxiliary that has established a project in the community that helps others excel. It may or may not be a Z-HOPE project but should assist women, men, children and/or seniors, separately or together. The project must be an ongoing activity that has existed for three (3) or more months. This project should be independent of the sponsoring chapter and organized and implemented by the auxiliary. The project is not a Z-HOPE project. Submit a portfolio to document the activity to Friend Donnie Faye Hull at [email protected] by May 15, 2018.

2018 NATIONAL BOULÉ Z-HOPE PROJECT

Meals on Wheels provides meals to an eligible consumer at a nutrition site, senior center, other congregate setting or via home delivery. These services are designed to maintain or improve the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the elderly through the provision of appropriate nutrition services. Hot meals are designed to meet one-third of the daily recommended dietary allowance as indicated by the food and nutrition board of the National Academy of Sciences.

How Chapters and Auxiliaries Can Participate:

• To donate a minimum of $150 (Graduate Chapter and Amicae) and ($50 Undergraduate chapters) towards Meals on Wheels. Points are based on the donation amount. (Ex. $100=100 points)

• Make all checks payable to: Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated; in the memo section of your check, write “Meals on Wheels Program~National Council of Aging”

• Send your payment (cashier’s or certified check only- Postmarked by June 1, 2018) to:

Eligibility: Membership is open only to Sorors of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated who are related to other Sorors. That relationship may be at any level -- mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, or cousin - including legally adopted, in-law family or step family members. Sorors seeking membership in the national legacy club must be financial on all levels. This applies only to the soror applying for membership. Other family members, triumphant or inactive sorors, are ineligible for participation in the Legacy Club.

A one-time membership fee of $40.00 is required. The fee covers the cost of the legacy pin, certificate and induction items. (Charter stoles were available only to charter members who were inducted during Boule’ 2016.) Upon verification of the application, you will receive instructions for submitting the fee. Please allow at least two weeks for processing.

THE ZETA WAY

The following information has been compiled to ensure that every chapter understands the guidelines and criteria for scrapbook competition. In the true spirit of scrapbook designing, creativity is important and depicted in the point system.

1. Each chapter that submits a scrapbook for competition must be financial on the state, regional, and national level.

2. Scrapbooks must be submitted at the 2018 Grand Boulé on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Meeting Room 236 of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

3. Graduate Chapters, Undergraduate Chapters, and Auxiliaries will compete against other chapters and auxiliaries of the same size. There will be a first, second, and third place winner of each category.

a. Small: 0-4 members

b. Medium: 5-25 members

c. Large: 26-50 members

d. Larger: 51 or more members

4. Each section of the scrapbook will be assessed in two areas: content and creativity.

5. he judging panel will comprise of one representative from each region or sorors whose chapter is not competing.

6. Sorors who serve as judges must be registered for the Grand Boulé.

7. Secure all decorative items with the appropriate adhesive. The judges will not be responsible for making repairs to scrapbooks or keeping up with lose pieces.

8. The scrapbook with the highest number of points in each size category WINS!

ContentThe content should include supporting documentation for the activities displayed. Supporting documentation is defined as newspaper articles, pictures, programs, tickets, fliers, etc. The number of supporting documents for each section will vary between one and two pieces. The requirements are listed in the scrapbook guidelines section below. There should be a

divider for each of the following sections: Programs, Z-HOPE Projects, Chapter/Auxiliary Activities, Blue and White Social Activities, and Organizational Affiliations.

Creativity

Each section will be highly judged on creativity. Chapter/Auxiliaries can show creativity in original and exciting ways through design, material, layout, etc. The design should not render the scrapbook or its pages difficult to read or understand.
