You make all the difference! 2017: Look at What We Achieved Together We are inspired each day by this amazing community of wildlife supporters. You share in all of our successes, milestones, and accomplishments—and we cannot say thank you enough for your connued dedicaon to our wildlife paents and organizaon. We hope you enjoy this glimpse at just some of the accomplishments we achieved together last year – we couldnt do it without you! In 2017, we received 127 more paents than in 2016, a 23.6% increase. Many of whom were babies—a variety of songbirds, seabirds, and even some super cute chipmunks! Were proud to report that last year was our most successful hand-rearing season to date, and we had some very exhausted chick momsby the end of the season. Including all birds and mammals cared for, we released 272 paents back into the Wild where they belong—94 more than in 2016. Two of the paents released were Osprey siblings who, aſter disappearingfrom their nest site for almost two weeks, were successfully reunited with their parents . Such an incredible reunion (and a favorite story of ours), it sll gives us a rush of happiness to talk about it. Another point of note on these two: we were able to get them to eat on their own—a rarity when rehabilitang Ospreys in capvity! Our successful rehabilitaon rate improved to 64.7%, up from 53.2% in 2016. We were able to hire a full-me wildlife rehabilitaon coordinator, Pauline Baker . With Pauline on the team and 100% focused on rehab, our volunteers have been learning more hands-on techniques, improving their own knowledge, and advancing their rehabilitaon skills. All of this leads to enhanced individual paent care, and a more capable and effecve team overall. Partnership in Acon: WCNC and Audubon Society of Portland (ASP) partnered up last summer, when ASP transferred 30 of it s 200 Mallard ducklings to our facility for rearing. We had ample space for that many pier-pang lile feet, and who could deny caring for such cue pies! We had so much fun, were going to do it again this year, and take more! With the help of Pacific Power Foundaon, City of Cannon Beach Community Grants program, and others, we built a new seabird enclosure! Fit with two filtered pools, well-draining and easy-to-clean rock floor, and lots of perching and room to fly, our seabirds have been happy campers while preparing for release!

2017: Look at What We Achieved Together

We are inspired each day by this amazing community of wildlife supporters. You share in all of our successes, milestones, and accomplishments—and we cannot say thank you enough for your continued dedication to our wildlife patients and organization. We hope you enjoy this glimpse at just some of the accomplishments we achieved together last year – we couldn’t do it without you!

In 2017, we received 127 more patients than in 2016, a 23.6% increase. Many of whom were

babies—a variety of songbirds, seabirds, and even some super cute chipmunks! We’re proud

to report that last year was our most successful hand-rearing season to date, and we had

some very exhausted “chick moms” by the end of the season.

Including all birds and mammals cared for, we released 272 patients back into the Wild

where they belong—94 more than in 2016.

Two of the patients released were Osprey siblings who, after “disappearing” from their nest

site for almost two weeks, were successfully reunited with their parents. Such an incredible

reunion (and a favorite story of ours), it still gives us a rush of happiness to talk about it.

Another point of note on these two: we were able to get them to eat on their own—a rarity

when rehabilitating Ospreys in captivity!

Our successful rehabilitation rate improved to 64.7%, up from 53.2% in 2016.

We were able to hire a full-time wildlife rehabilitation coordinator, Pauline Baker. With

Pauline on the team and 100% focused on rehab, our volunteers have been learning more

hands-on techniques, improving their own knowledge, and advancing their rehabilitation

skills. All of this leads to enhanced individual patient care, and a more capable and effective

team overall.

Partnership in Action: WCNC and Audubon Society of Portland (ASP) partnered up last

summer, when ASP transferred 30 of it’s 200 Mallard ducklings to our facility for rearing.

We had ample space for that many pitter-patting little feet, and who could deny caring for

such cutie pies! We had so much fun, we’re going to do it again this year, and take more!

With the help of Pacific Power

Foundation, City of Cannon

Beach Community Grants

program, and others, we built a

new seabird enclosure! Fit with

two filtered pools, well-draining

and easy-to-clean rock floor, and

lots of perching and room to fly,

our seabirds have been happy

campers while preparing for

release!

Thank You for an incredible 2017!

We are so incredibly grateful to you—our friends and family—for an amazing 2017! You bring life to our organization through your support, and we couldn’t continue doing this work we love without you. Thanks to you, we were able to raise over $184,000 to fund our wildlife rehabilitation efforts for the beloved creatures who need our help.

A special thanks to the Kinsman Foundation for their incredible generosity over many, many years—most recently, a $45,000 grant to help us with staffing support.

This insert includes all of the people, foundations, businesses, and organizations who donated funds or supplies to WCNC in 2017. We apologize for inadvertently omitting any names from this list.
