This professional session will focus on the upcoming changes in the industry includ-ing the current mandate for medicated feeds through the Veterinary Feed Directives, as well as mandatory

prescriptions of medically important antimicrobial drugs in livestock beginning January 1, 2018.These are especially relevant for Ag Teachers, many of whom are responsible for guiding FFA members in the rearing of their own livestock who are subject to the regulations as they develop.
The Safe Animal Feed Education Program (SAFE) will provide a brief overview/background on Veterinary Feed Directives and the purpose of the rule. A review of the applicable paperwork/documentation required by all parties as well as record retention time and a “Document Trail”, which includes a flow diagram of the paperwork applicable to a VFD and which parties are required to maintain those documents. The label re-quirements for VFD feed will be discussed, as well as a list of the drugs that will be affected and your responsi-bility as a producer.
21st Century Employability 180-101Skills to Help Future Leaders Become College and Career Ready Consultant Nancy Gutierrez Presenter Shannon Wells, M.S.Description: New World of Work provides free les-sons and videos to help instructors teach 21st Century Employability Skills and is a project of the California Community College System. in 2012, the New World of Work team began tracking futurist projections, economic reports, and national research related to the correlation between education and employment. New World of Work conducted a series of Skills Panels to gather feedback from employers, entrepreneurs, hu-man resource specialists, educators, and students to determine the essential employability skills required in our emerging global economy. From this, the “Top 10” list of essential 21st Century Employability Skills was established. Expert curriculum and video developers, college faculty across disciplines, and digital badging teams then created lesson modules and digital badges to go along with each of the skills. Join us to learn how you can integrate employability skills curriculum in Ag-ricultural Education and FFA programs to help students become college and career ready.

Mollie AschenbrenerDescription: This workshop is designed to provide coaches with insight and experience using the Ameri-can Psychological Association (APA) format. APA is required for the Prepared Speech CDE as well as a key component of Agri-Science research papers. Per-haps more importantly, an understanding of APA will prepare high school students to transition to the rigor of college level writing requirements. The objective of this workshop is to provide hands-on instruction allowing teachers to ensure student success. Hosted by Dr. Mollie Aschenbrener (an experienced research writer), and Christine Henderson (a credentialed English teacher and currently a writing instructor for the COA with CSU Chico), the differences between MLA and APA writing styles will be demonstrated. Resources will be provided to improve writing skills. Advice from past manuscript judging will also be available.

Tim Brown Description: Come join the fun in this hands on work-shop where you will learn ID techniques for the agron-omy and veg crops contests. 45% of the jobs in ag are in crop science and these contests help prepare your students for these in-demand careers. Learn from suc-cessful coaches how you can train a winning team with minimal cost and travel. Get your teams bringing home ribbons with the skills you learn! Space is limited to 35 teachers as each participant will take home a resource kit with $300 in classroom supplies to help get their teams going.
