Our Healthy Living CentersLet our Healthy Living Centers be the first stop on your path to good health. Come in to research health topics and learn self-care techniques. Browse our health media collection, which includes pamphlets, CDs, videos, cookbooks, and medical reference

books. Most of our centers offer breast pump rentals and sales. You can also speak with a staff member, have your blood pressure checked, sign up for a Healthy Living class, browse kp.org/mydoctor, and much more.

Our Classes and ResourcesCheck the class listings in this catalog for locations and fees* (if applicable). Our classes are open to all Kaiser Permanente members, and some classes are open to the community. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and most require preregistration. A session is defined as the number of classes a participant should attend to get the most value from the educational experience. The number of sessions does not imply a

limit to the number of classes a Kaiser Permanente member may attend.

Behavioral HealthGroup Treatment for Panic Feeling worried, anxious, and nervous is normal, but sometimes anxiety can be so overwhelming that it interferes with daily living. This pro-gram is designed to help you identify your triggers and learn techniques to cope with panic. Members only.

Managing Ongoing Conditions Life Care Planning Peace of mind comes from knowing that your values and wishes are honored in health care decisions. Life care planning begins with choosing someone to speak for you in the unforeseen event that you are unable to communicate for yourself. We call that person a health care agent. At Kaiser Permanente, we believe all adult members should designate a health care agent and complete a basic Advance Directive so your fam-ily, physicians, and others are able to honor your choices. We recommend that you bring the person you think will be your health care agent or other family members to the class with you. Members only.

Understanding Chronic Pain Learn about the causes and treatment of chronic pain, common medications, and self-care techniques. Upon completion of this class, you’ll be enrolled in our Chronic Pain Manage-ment program to provide continuity of care and access to information and support services. This class is a prerequisite for Managing Chronic Pain. Members only.

Managing Chronic Pain Series Learn how to deal with chronic pain by pacing your daily activities, practicing relaxation techniques, and managing moods, thoughts, and relationships. Understanding Your COPD If you have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including emphysema and chronic bronchitis, learning to recognize symptoms and manage flares-ups can make a big difference in how you feel. Preparing for Childbirth Few events are more exciting than the birth of your baby. Get prepared by learning what to expect before, during, and after delivery. Practice breathing and relaxation techniques to ease labor and delivery and understand your options for managing labor and using a birthing coach for support. Take this class during the last three months of pregnancy. Bring pillows and a mat, as some of the exercises are performed on the floor. Members only.
