Question 2

SECTION B

(30 marks) (Time suggested: 40 minutes)

Read the following text. Then, answer questions (a) - U).

It is important for everyone to have a good health. This can be achieved through healthy diet and regular exercise. A healthy diet includes eating meat and fish products that are steamed or baked but not fried . Health experts also recommend eating lots of fruits and vegetables.

Next is regular exercise. Exercising is a sure way of keeping our bodies fit. Lack of exercise may cause our muscles to become weaker and in extreme cases, we may not be able to do physical work properly. Even our bones will get weaker and break easily.

There are many types of exercises which we can take part in. Young people can play tennis, badminton, football, futsal, sepak takraw or go swimming. Daredevils who wish for more extreme exercise can opt for rock climbing, jungle trekking, skate-boarding or roller-skating .

For older people, there is Tai Chi, yoga or simply a stroll in the park. For a slightly more vigorous exercise, line-dancing is recommended. There is no excuse not to exercise since there are different types of excercises for every age group. Let us change our lifestyle and you should start now. Remember, 'Health is wealth'.

Question 4 Read the report below.

The Prefectorial Board, SMK Bintang, Taman Mesra, 11760 Sg. Sembilang.

To, Principal, SMK Bintang, Taman Mesra.

Dear Madam, Report on Leadership Camp

SECTION C (20 marks)

(Time suggested: 20 minutes)

The Leadership Camp was held for three days and two nights from the 11th to 131h March, 2015. It was attended by 80 prefects accompanied by 4 teachers. The Camp was held at Kem Bina Negara, Balik Pulau. The aim of the camp was to build leadership quality amongst the participants.

The camp kicked off with the introduction of the Camp commandant and facilitators. An ice-breaking event was carried out in which the participants gave their full commitment. The activities carried out on the second day included talks, discussions and role play. Participants were divided into groups of 8 members.

One interesting activity on the second day was to cook dinner. Each team was given two cans of sardine, a little oil for cooking and matches. The twist in the activity was, participants were not allowed to speak to one another. The programme was fully packed and participants looked lethargic at the end of the day. At midnight, participants were taken for a night trail. All the lights in the entire camping ground were switched off. In total darkness, with their eyes covered, participants were left on their own for almost an hour. A majority of the participants persevered and braved it through. All in all, the participants had shown admirable qualities of a leader. Despite the lack of time to rest, the participants gave positive response and hoped that there will be similar camps in the future.

However, there are some aspects of the camp that needed to be looked into. Several toilets were not in good condition. Three of the toilet flushes did not work at all. Hence, the queues were long to use them. The dorms were equipped with only three ceiling fans that are centrally located. As a result, the heat and humidity was unbearable.

In conclusion, all participants agreed that the programmes were enjoyable. A word of praise must be given to all the facilitators for their good jobs.

Question 5

Read the poem below carefully. Then, answer the questions (a)- (d).

Mr Nobody

I know a funny little man As quiet as a mouse Who does the mischief that's done In everybody's house! There's no one ever sees his face, That every plate we break was cracked By Mr Nobody.

'Tis he who always tears our books, Who leaves the door aja, He pulls the buttons from our shirts, And scatters pins afar; That squeaking door will always squeak, For, prithee, don't you see, We leave the oiling to be done By Mr Nobody.

He puts dam wood upon the fire, That kettles cannot boil; His are the feet that bring in mud, And all the carpet soil. The papers are always mislaid, Who had them last but he? There's no one tosses them about But Mr. Nobody.

The finger marks upon the door By none of us are made; We never leave the blinds unclosed, To let the curtain fade; The ink we never spill; the boots That lying round you see Are not our boots - they all belong To Mr. Nobody.
