IN MOLD TECHNOLOGYThe primary objective of Rudy Project is to reduce the consequences of accidents to a minimum. For this reason, the In-Mold technology allows us to cast the external polycarbonate cap directly during the injection stage of the expandable polystyrene (EPS), thereby ma-king it possible to create a much more rigid structure which is knock-resistant and extremely light. The combined action of the EPS structure, the polycar-bonate cap and exo-skeleton creates resistance to the mechanical action exercised by an impact and dissipates the energy in order to prevent it from being transferred to the head of the person wearing the helmet.

FLOW-THROUGH VENTILATIONKeeping your head cool and dry is essential for main-taining performance at the highest levels. Thanks to the shape and the positioning of the external air openings and the unique air channels inside the cap, our helmets are perfectly ventilated and very comfortable. The air vents have been designed to permit maximum di-spersion of heat, ensuring your performance does not drop as a result of the heat, and effective evapo-ration of sweat.

SAFETY AND ENERGY DISTRIBUTION PROPERTIESFalls can prove to be very costly and have permanent con-sequences. The starting point for the development of Rudy Project’s cycling and mountain bike helmets is the adoption of excellent quality materials which guarantee safety and reliability. This is why Rudy Project undertakes to use only highly-advanced materials which can absorb shocks and dis-sipate the mechanical energy without it being transferred to the head and body. The structure of our helmets combines expanded polystyrene (EPS), a material which can disperse the force caused by an impact through a plastic deformation and polycarbonate shell for increased durability and protection.

VORTEX KILLER SYSTEM™One of the major breakthroughs results from the scientific combina-tion of the overall helmet design geometry and the two side vents; the purpose is to aid in the straightening of the airflow over the rear of the helmet. To help in managing these Vortex eddy low pressure points, which create drag and instability, air is directed, through a pro-prietary patented channel system, over the neck and shoulder are-as at a different rate or volume than the oncoming free air: we call this invention Vortex Killer or Air Straightener System. This system adds significantly more ventilation inside the helmet: the Air director crea-tes a high/low pressure area, on each side, so that air coming from the right vent goes to the opposite side of the Director and then flows out. And vice versa for the other side. Acceleration of air means more ventila-tion to help with sweat evaporation (rider cooling).

CENTER PRESSURE BALANCE™By reducing the length of the tail and by adding material on top (Dorsal Ridge), we have moved the center of pressure of the helmet forward in order to best match with the center of gravity of the user’s head. This for a better weight balan-ce and to avoid forced axis rotation due to

HOW COULD I CHECK THE FITTING PARAMETERS?

Rudy Project RX lenses (both SV and Progressive) get 2 semi-visible laser markings: you have to detect and mark them; then you have to place the lenses on the proper lens markings schedule you can find at page on this catalogue. At this point you have to mark: a) the Fitting Point, b) the Prism Reference Point, c) The Distance Reference Point (only for progressive), d) the Near Reference Point (only for progressive lenses). Transfer the resulting markings on the outside of the lens and check the fitting parameters with a ruler.

ARE THE COLORS OF THE HI+1.6 LENSES THE SAME AS THE OMONI-MOUS PLANO LENSES?

The thickness of the lens could affect the final color. Furthermore you have to consider that in case of mirrored lenses, the different material and manufacturing process have an effect on the Light Transmission and the intensity of the mirror reflection.

WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING?

Rudy Project Diamond Coat is a multilayer A/R coating which minimizes glares, annoying reflections and halos around lights. It provides enhan-ced visual comfort and lenses look thinner or non-existent; its powerful antistatic properties and the outstanding hydrophobic coating allow your lenses to stay cleaner longer. Stronger than in the past, Diamond coat pro-tects your lenses during sport activities.

HOW MAY I ORDER RUDY RX SPECTACLES?

MAY I ORDER ONLY SPECTACLES WITH NO FRAME?

Rudy Project will accept orders for spare lenses whether the request is for models within the current catalogue.

MAY I ORDER ONLY ONE RX LENS?

Rudy Project warmly recommends to order both R and L lenses, in order to avoid different photochromic effects between the two lenses or any mismatching between the base tints.

WHAT IF THE USER IS NOT ABLE TO USE HIS RUDY SPECTACLES?

First of all the optician should investigate in order to understand where the issue comes from: the trouble is with far or near distance, when lo-oking at a fix target or when pursuit the target, which solution the user did to solve his troubles. Then check once again the fitting parameters and the fitting of the frame (pay attention to panto-tilt angle and vertex distance). Take a test to confirm binocular balancing; be sure that the do-minant eye does not change when wearing Rudy project spectacles; com-pare the stereo acuity between usual spectacles and Rudy equipment. In case of progressive lenses, be sure that Add power is related to the real use conditions.

HOW TO MANAGE A CUSTOMER’S CLAIM?

Before sending back the RX sunglasses, please ask for and fill in the Com-plaint Form to Rudy Project and forward it. You will receive a reply in 24 hours.

WHAT ADVANTAGES DO I HAVE WITH A DIRECT RX LENS COMPARED TO CONTACT LENSES OR CLIP-ONS?

Contact lenses can cause visual instability (dryness, shock, sweat, etc.).There are numerous advantages over clip-ons: greater field of vision, less weight, ease of use and maintenance, fewer tendencies to blur.

DO I HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIAL LICENSE TO SELL PRESCRIPTION LEN-SES?

Rx lenses are considered medical aids so sale to the consumer must always be carried out by a qualified optician who certifies that the glasses themselves are in compliance. So it is important to check your country’s legislation.

WHY IS THE LENSOMETER READING DIFFERENT FROMTHE PRESCRIPTION THAT I ORDERED ?

Rudy Project RX lenses with Virtual Sight technology are digitally surfaced and designed exclusively for Rudy Project frames in order to compensate vertex distance, panto-tilt angle and panoramic angle. Because of that you cannot get accurate lensometer reading: our lab control any specta-cle during the entire manufacturing process; then a specific instrument controls powers and fitting parameters by considering all the special fea-tures of Rudy frames.

DO PRESCRIPTIONS FOR NORMAL EYEGLASSES WORK FOR IMPACTRX OR HI+ 1.6 LENSES?

Of course you must start from the current prescription: usually the re-calculated prescription performed by Rudy Project guarantees the best result for the user; however further evaluations regarding target distan-ces, light and environmental conditions, technical equipment, will help in customizing his new Rudy Project RX sunglasses.

IF PATIENTS HAVE A PRISM IN THEIR SCRIPT, CAN THEY STILL DO A DI-RECT IN FRAME RX?

Rudy project can produce spectacles with prismatic prescription till about 4.00 prismatic diopters whether allowed by the prismatic compensation that we normally introduce to compensate panoramic angle.

SPORT SOLUTIONS AND PROGRESSIVE LENSES:ANY PARTICULAR EVALUATION?

Rudy Project will customize any prescription parameter through its Vir-tual Sight Technology in order to achieve the best visual comfort for the user. Despite our recalculation, the revised script will compensate wrap and tilt angle, but it will work accordingly with the vision target evaluated during the examination. It means that if the reading distance has been set at 35 cm, Rudy spectacles will preserve sharp vision at that distance. Nevertheless our experience demonstrates that a detailed anamnesis and VOC could point out critic situations for the user’s vision while playing, specially for proximity: often Add needs to be reduced because of diffe-rent reading distances; we warmly recommend to consider such “alerts” in order to grant the best performance.

WHY ARE THERE DIFFERENT LENS SHAPES FOR SOME MODELS?

Rudy Project will customize any prescription parameter through its VirWhere allowed by the frame, Rudy Project offers several shapes of len-ses for the same model in order to reach the best cosmetic result with higher scripts and the wider prescription range. Rudy Project Customer Service will be at your side for detailed analysis of the resulting thickness based on your customers’ rx and fitting parameters.

ARE THE IMPACTRX LENSES SEMI-SOFT LIKE THOSE OF IMPACTX?

No. The ImpactRx lenses are rigid in order to avoid any change to the pre-scription of the lenses.

ARE THE COLORS OF THE IMPACTRX LENSES THE SAME AS THE IM-PACTX COLORS?

Nominally they are the same. As a matter of fact the different blend of the ophthalmic version (due to a different polymeric formula) besides the Hard Coating (or the Diamond Coat) applied, produce slight differences in the photochromic activation. WARRANTIES

TAKE CARE OF YOUR RUDY PROJECT SPECTACLES

COATING WARRANTY

Diamond Coat™ and Hard Coating are warranted for a period of two years. This warranty is limited to a one time replacement of the same Rx and material in the original frame. Damage due to improper care and handling is not covered. The Rudy Project Quality Dept is in charge of the defective rating (defective material or improper care).

SCRATCHED LENSES

Hard Coating is always included within Rudy Project Rx lenses. Even if it provides superior resistance properties, it cannot prevent scratches or da-mages in case of crashes, grinding or contact with scratchy material. Plea-se consider that scratches may affect Laser, Multilaser and Racing coating more than other tints. Rudy Project will not respond in case of damages coming from Improper use and care. Any evaluation will be up to Rudy Project Quality Dept.

PHOTOCHROMIC LIMITED WARRANTY

Photochromic pigments of Rudy Project RX Lenses get different ranges of activation if compared to plano lenses, because of different manufactu-ring process. Please consider that photochromic activation is affected by environmental conditions like temperature and altitude. Pigments react to UV rays: stronger is the radiation, faster will be the activation. Please consider that as per all organic materials, also photochromic pigments suffer for “aging” process: it is related to exposure to UV rays and their intensity; there’s no relation to the number of activations during its life.

Rudy Project is focused in development and selection of materials with the highest standards in order to ensure maximum durability of its pro-ducts; there are still few rules for the use and maintenance of glasses that contribute to make their life longer.

• Do not leave your glasses face down and put them in their case when you are not wearing them

• Clean your glasses regularly with soft soap and cold water and dry them with a soft clean cloth

•Avoid any contact with acetone, ammonia, glue, setting lotion, solvent, chain oil (both liquid and spray), fragrance, sprays, suntan cream, insecti-cide and household cleaning materials.

•When exposed to the salt, regularly wash lenses and frames with freshwa-ter, in order to prevent oxidation or corrosion

•Do not leave your glasses in hot environment that may damage your len-ses and frame (for example on a car’s dashboard).

OUR LAB ERRORS

Rudy Project will remake any lenses made incorrectly. Credit will be issued upon receipt of old lenses. Please be specific about the reason for reque-sting a remake. The invoice number, date and reason for the redo must be included in order for credit to be issued.

NON ADAPTATION POLICY FOR PROGRESSIVE LENSES

Non-adapt to progressive changed to Single Vision will be done one time, at no charge if notified with in the first 60 days from the shipment do-cument date. Furthermore a change in fitting parameters, prescription power or a different progressive design is allowed at a one time 50% di-scount, within 90 days from the shipment document date. Any charges not on the original invoice will be billed at full price. Credit will be issued upon return of old lenses. For accurate and expedite credit, please include the original invoice number, date, reason for change and authorization number issued by Rudy Project.

Our Kynetium™ RX clips allow opticians to easily edging prescription lenses in office without the need of complex cutting machines. Smart mounting system, can be removed easily. The solution offers our patients the versatility of interchangeable clear and sun RX lenses in the same frame.

Rx Optical Insert : The value Option Rudy Project has created RX optical inserts that can be snapped in behind the polycarbonate Rudy Project lenses. Thanks to our patented ‘easy-in easy-out’ system, our Clip-ons can be inserted or removed with ease. This is particularly useful when you want to wear your contact lenses or when cleaning.

• If you do not have access to the reference template supplied in the package with the clip-on, use the false lens.

• The distance between pupil and clip-on lens is never the same as between the pupil and the lens of the prescription glasses.

• For the inter-pupil distance measure the optical axes with the clip-on fitted on the glasses.

• Always ask your customers for valid prescription from the eye doctor within the last two years. The prescription must contain a valid reading for sphere and pupil distance (PD).

• We recommend spherical prescription lenses.

• An anti-reflection treatment applied to the Rx lenses may optimize vision. Some manufacturers offer nowadays advanced prescription lens materials with extremely low thickness.

These allow high prescription index settings and higher optical comfort. Ask your lens provider for more informations.

• Warning: Perception‘s clip-on is made out of Grilamid TR90 and should not be overheated! (or very slightly - low melting point!) to fit the prescriptions.

• Lenses should be inserted playing with the elasticity of the material.

• Same technique applied with Direct Rx on plastic frames.

• When presciption is higher than +/- 3.00, take care about the horizontal prismatic. Compensation due to the total panoramic angle of our wrap frames.
