through CDC or you can use Interview Stream (http://uc.propractice.interviewstream.com/) to practice. 4. Keep your advisor posted regarding any scheduled interviews, interview feedback, or offers. 5. Potential questions to ask include:

a. Do you provide housing assistance (if the position is 50 miles outside of the I-275 loop)? b. Can you describe your training program to new co-ops? c. Are there opportunities to interact with other departments other than the one I would be potentially placed? d. What is a typical career path for co-ops?

Throughout the Term

1. Always feel free to contact your advisor, if you have questions. 2. We will continue to place students up to the very beginning of the fall term. There is a lot of job activity towards the end

of the term, so do not be discouraged. If you only have one offer by the end of the term, you are expected to accept the offer.

3. Please keep us posted on your search process and let us know whom you have been interviewing. After Spring Break, we expect you to check in with us weekly with an updated status on your job search.

Accepting a Position- “I landed a co-op” 1. Log on to the PAL system and click “I landed a co-op”. You will then enter the company and position you accepted.

The system will provide you additional clicks and instructions. You must decline any further interviews or job offers once you have accepted a position. Politely inform all interested employers that you have accepted a position and are no longer available.

2. You will receive an e-mail once co-op registration becomes available. Log in to PAL and click the register link. Be sure to register by the week before the official work term. Late fees will be assessed after the University add/drop date.

3. Pay the co-op fee, which will show up on your bill a few days after you complete the co-op registration process in PAL. 4. Be sure to take care of everything regarding UC financial aid, health insurance, and housing. If you have questions

regarding how co-op will affect these, please contact the One Stop directly. For housing details, please visit http://www.uc.edu/uchousing/resident_self_service/housing_co-op.html.

On the Job 1. Log onto Blackboard ME/MET Co-op Community and familiarize yourself with the Co-op Course Syllabus.

Assignments will be due throughout the co-op semester, so you should plan to keep track of the due dates. 2. The PAL system will be sending you e-mail reminders on what you need to complete while on co-op. For example,

within the first two weeks of the co-op term, speak with your work supervisor to discuss your learning objectives. Be sure to log in to PAL and enter your learning objectives. Be sure to input your work supervisor’s contact information into PAL.

3. Within the last two weeks of the co-op term, meet with your work supervisor for an end of term review. Complete you PAL assessments while this review is fresh in your mind, and remind your employer to complete the Employer portion of the PAL assessments.

4. Update your resume to reflect your new experiences. 5. You are expected to work the full dates of the co-op term. You may not take a vacation, unless vacation time is

offered by the company. 6. Even though you are a UC student, you are subject to the company’s work/holiday calendar. Double check with your

company. 7. You are a representative of the University of Cincinnati, the College of Engineering and Applied Science and the

Division of Professional Practice and are accountable to professional behaviors inside and outside of work.

Returning to Campus 1. Check your school e-mail account for information regarding dates and deadlines for returning students. 2. Schedule your meeting through Starfish or call 556–2667 to schedule a reflection meeting with your co-op advisor. 3. You should have all assignments completed BEFORE you meet with your advisor or you will be asked to reschedule. 4. Students must complete all PAL assessments, receive a satisfactory grade from their supervisor, meet with their

Professional Practice Advisor, and complete any additional assignments assigned by their advisor in order to receive a passing grade for the term. Grades are Pass/Fail.

5. You are not expected to print out copies of your PAL co-op report as a pre-requisite to meet with your co-op advisor. But please complete the report before scheduling your meeting.

Important Policies • Evening and/or on-line classes are typically approved. Students cannot take more than six credits and must be

approved in advance. Ask your academic advisor for paperwork you need to take classes. Take into account time will be needed to route the paperwork and get the appropriate signatures.

• Day classes will not be approved unless absolutely necessary to stay on track academically. Students must petition PSRC and must be approved in advance. Students are still expected to work 40 hours per week.

• Students must complete two terms with the same company prior to a job change. • Students may search for their own co-op position, outside of those offered by the university. Students must inform

their advisor of their plans to do so. Positions must be career-related, full-time, paid, and last for the full dates of the co-op term.
