The fall was a busy time for The Old Barn as children headed back to school and our fall programs picked up. September began with our annual Barn Raising celebration, where we saw UNA community members out enjoying the festivities and catching up with neighbours. Winter 2012 looks to be busier than ever! We have once again expanded our programming at The Old Barn. Specifically, we have increased the number of Art and Dance programs, with additions such as Flamenco Dancing, Jewellery Design, and Drawing and Painting programs. Through new collaborations with SUCCESS and the Vancouver School Board SWIS Program we are able to offer a wider range of adult education programs and newcomer services. Helen Su, a Settlement Officer from SUCCESS, is now providing services every Monday out of The Old Barn office. So whether you are looking to continue with your current program or looking for something new, I am confident you will find something to fit your needs at The Old Barn.

Instructor Profile

Luci took her first yoga class in 1997, after being persuaded to try it in Berkeley, California. She was immediately hooked and began

Luci Yamamoto

taking five weekly classes, studying with established Iyengar-based teachers in the San Francisco Bay Area. While the invigorating physical practice initially drew her to yoga, the mental discipline and the constancy of daily practice have proven equally compelling. An articulate, energetic teacher, Luci’s classes are rigorous but always geared to the individual. She encourages students to challenge themselves and to appreciate the precision and depth of Iyengar yoga. Originally from Hawaii, Luci is a professional writer, editor, and Lonely Planet author; she blogs about yoga at http://yogaspy.com.

Instructor Profile

Andrew has been blessed to study Ashtanga at the Ashtanga Yoga Institute and the Mysore Mandala in Mysore, India. He began teaching in

Andrew Fraser

Seoul, South Korea in 2007 after completing several years of teacher training, zen meditation retreats and various workshops/courses with Anusara, Vinyasa and Raja Yoga masters. His classes reflect his in-depth knowledge of western and eastern approaches to yoga philosophy, anatomy, physiology, and spirituality. In his daily practice of Ashtanga, he has found a holistic approach to health in the discipline of strict physical training, self-knowledge and the relevance of spirit.

This class is appropriate for all levels. You will be given options in each pose so that you feel challenged, yet successful.
