How do I know if my child is Gifted and Talented?

Ask yourself:•Does my child usually perform one or two grade levels beyond what is expected?•Does my child easily master new information and/or consistently ask “what if ” questions?•Does my child comprehend in-depth, complex ideas and enjoy self-directed learning?•Does my child enjoy creating, improvising, and being original?

Please let your campus and/or GT Teacher know that you would like to nominate your child. The deadline for nominating is October 5, 2012. Gifted and Talented Program testing will begin October 15 and will extend to October 26. You will be notified in writing of the “Selection Committee” decision regarding the placement of your child. If you have any questions regarding this process, please feel free to contact the G/T Program teacher at the campus.

GIFTED AND TALENTED

LIBRARYWelcome to a wonderful new school year in the George H.W. Bush Library. We will be reading many wonderful books and “Testing our Wits” with the “Accelerated Reader” program via the Internet. Our Scholastic Book fair is scheduled during October and we will, once again, participate in the great state of Texas’ Bluebonnet Reading Program. This is the year for “Reading at Home”. Please read with your younger children every night and encourage your older children to read a variety of different genres. Reading is a gift to treasure for a lifetime. We are all excited about this new school year and the library is the best place to check out exciting new books. Our goal is to instill a love of reading in your child.
