Content will be largely negligible and/or inaccurate. 0 offered rarely, to students failing to make any attempt at writing anything of value. 1 offered to students who recognize the point being discussed is value, and attempts to briefly comment on it. 2 offered to students who attempt to write at length about the given factor, but fails to achieve anything of note. Writing here will be characterized by a lack of understanding of the point / factor / event / personality. While coherent, it will be evident that little coherent analysis has taken place. Content will often be brief, and treated superficially. Sweeping statements would have been made to cover that fact, and be passed off as analysis. Writing here will often be relevant, but narrative. The focus would be on the description of events, than the explanation of how events serve to demonstrate a point about the factor being discussed. Content will be relevant to the factor, event or personality, if not the question. Writing here will demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of the question, and offer a relevant analysis. The approach will be analytical, with sections of narrative / description. Content will often be accurate, and expressed coherently most of the time. Writing here will exhibit a mastery of the principles behind essay writing, and offer a fully relevant response. The quality of analysis is consistent, with little weakness or narration. Content will be accurate, and offered in a manner that shows control over the response. 10 marks will only be awarded to responses requiring no room for improvement.
