The extra time contest marks the Beavers eighth overtime game of the season and its fifth in its last seven games. BSU is now 2-3-3 in 2010-11 overtime contests, 6-12-3 in WCHA play and 10-14-3 overall. uThe Beavers have struggled in Friday evening contests in 2010-11. Last night’s series-opening tie makes BSU 3-9-2 (.286) on Fridays with a 1-8-2 (.181) mark on Friday’s in league play. uLast night’s tie marked and end two two-game losing skin in OT. BSU is 20-20-41 in overtime since the 1999-2000 season. The Beavers have escaped overtime with at least a tie in over 75-percent (61-of-81) of overtime affairs in the last 11 seasons. uThe Beavers now have three overtime losses in eight extra time games (2-3-3) this season, which matches BSU teams of 2002-03, 2004-05 and 2005-06 for the BSU Division I-era mark for OT losses in a season (3). uTwenty-seven games into the 2010-11 campaign, the Beavers already have eight games that have been extended to overtime matching its 2009-10 total (8). BSU has played more OT games only one season since making the jump to NCAA Division I for the 1999-2000 season. In 2002-03 the Beavers played 15 OT contests and in 2004-05 and 2009-10 the team played in eight overtime contests. uThree seems to be a magical thresh hold for BSU opponents in 2010-11. BSU is 0-9-0 (.000) when its opponents have scored three or more goals in a game. BSU is 10-3-3 (.719) when holding its op- ponents to two or fewer goals this season. uTwenty-two of BSU’s 26 skaters have netted at least a point this season. Rookies Jeff Jubinville, anton Racklin and Garrett ladd along with sophomore Matt Hartmann are all still in search of their first collegiate points. uThe BSU power-play has struggled to get on track in the second half of 2010-11. In the first 11 games back from break, the Beavers have only six goals on the man advantage (6-for-32) and are clicking at just 18.8 percent. uBSU’s penalty-kill unit was flawless again last night snuffing out all five of the Huskies’ power-play opportunities. The Beavers have allowed just three man advantage goals in their last seven games and 34 opponent chances (.911). The unit has now held opponents scoreless on 106-of-128 opponent man advantage opportunities this season (.828). uThe Beavers’ penalty-kill unit last conceded a goal Jan. 22 in a 5-1 loss to St. Cloud State. That’s 17 opponent power-play opportunities and 30:51 of penalty time. uMatt Read will make his 138 consecutive appearance for the Beavers tonight. Read has not missed a game since he stepped on campus at BSU in the fall of 2007. He remains five games behind Matt Pope and John Haider for the BSU Division I-era record for games played (143). uJunior forward Drew Fisher will play in his 70th collegiate game tonight, while sophomore defender Jake areshenko will make his 60th appearance in the green and white. uBSU posted 34 shots last night to take a 34-29 edge in the shots on goal. The game marked the first time in seven games the team has out shot its opponents--a streak stretching back to Jan. 8 when the Beavers were defeated 4-3 at Ala.-Huntsville. uIan lowe, Matt Read and Jake areshenko each carry a two-game scoring streak into this after- noon’s series finale. Read leads the trio with four assists, while Lowe has two goals and an assist. uThe BSU blueline accounted for three assists last night. The last time BSU defensive corps contribut- ed three points was a Jan. 7 win at Ala.-Huntsville. The BSU “D” has contributed at least a point in nine of the Beavers’ last 10 games and has averaged 2.00 points per game (1-19=20) during that stretch. uDan Bakala has two assists from the crease this season and remains just one behind Matt Dalton (2008-09) for the BSU single-season record. With three during his career, he’s two shy of matching Jim Scanlan (1978-82) for the career goalie assists mark. uMatt Read has a pair of short-handed goals this season, with eight during his career Read sits just one behind Brendan Cook (2001-05) for the Beavers’ Division I-era record (9). uBSU enters tonight’s game looking for its second three-point road weekend of the season. Bemidji State also earned a tie and a win Jan. 14-15 at then-No. 10 Nebraska Omaha. uLast night’s stalemate left the Bemidji State-Michigan Tech all-time series even at 2-2-1. Despite BSU nabbing a road point last night, the visitor in series has never been victorious. uToday’s afternoon tilt is the fourth of sixth scheduled matinees of the 2010-11 season. BSU is already 2-1- 0 in afternoon games and when including the 2009-10 campaign, the Beavers are 5-5-2 in daylight hours. uBSU is 4-7-2 when playing as the visitor and are 3-6-2 in WCHA road contests despite posting a 2-1-2 mark in league road games since the first of the year. uThe Beavers posted a record of 10-6-3 a year ago when playing on Saturday and are 7-5-1 overall and 5-4-1 in Saturday league games in 2010-11. uBSU has compiled an all-time record of 976-482-89 (.660) in 1,547 games.
