NATIONAL SOFTBALL ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF SOFTBALL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES RED LION ON THE RIVER – OVERTON MEETING ROOM PORTLAND, OREGON AUGUST 8, 2010 ROLL CALL: Valentine Wojton, III, NSAD Commissioner: Pat Kinast, NSAD Secretary-Treasurer; Kevin Ryan, NSAD Softball Information Director; Vance Rewolinski, NSAD Tournament Director; Jeff Cucinotta; CAAD Representative; Frank Allnutt, ESAD Commissioner; Mark Corson, FAAD Commissioner; Paige Thompson-Matzker, MAAD Commissioner; Saul Gevarter, NWSAD Commissioner; Darin Clauson, SSAD Commissioner; and Sheri Mize, SWSAD Representative. Absence: NEAAD Commissioner. NSAD Commissioner Val Wojton called the meeting to order at 8:55 a.m. MEETING MINUTES: It was moved to accept Executive Board and Board of Director’s meeting minutes as of August 7, 2010 as read. Passed. FINANCIAL REPORT: Pat Kinast reported the NSAD financial report has yet been audited and indicated it will be posted on the website as soon as it is audited. See separate attachment for NSAD financial reports. Questions were raised in regards to the $2 million dollar liability coverage and what it pertains to this type of coverage. It was clarified to prevent misleading information that this type of insurance covers for field use and to sanction tournaments and that players are to provide own insurance for personal injury. Due to change of riders in the current policy with MCM Insurance Company, Val Wojton reported that he would gladly oblige to continue to work as liaison between NSAD and MCM Insurance Company when his NSAD Commissioner term expires. Discussions were held regarding the storage space’s maintenance use for NSAD’s property and ongoing expenses for the space use. Inquiries were made to suggest archive all documents to eliminate storage space. This would take up considerate time to do so. Questions were raised as to the whereabouts of the missing boxes referred to pre-NSAD days (AAAD era). This will be taken upon the Executive Board to further discuss ways and means to preserve the NSAD property in a most cost feasible way. Darin Clauson also inquired the $17K breakdowns as noted in the Board of Directors’ meeting. Information will be detailed at a later date as soon as Pat Kinast gets the information from his files. LAW COMMITTEE REPORT: Paige Thompson-Matzker reported receiving email from NEAAD in regards to errors made in the 2009 Softball Council meeting minutes which three motions were not written properly as proposed by the NEAAD. Two of the motions were failed whereas one was referred to the Law Committee. Corrections will be following this meeting as noted. Bylaws ratification took place as presented by the NSAD Law Committee as follows: Softball Council Referral #1 Motion SC-03-09 Moved that we add additional performance to duty under section 1.4 for NSAD Officers FAAD Moved this motion be referred to the Law Committee, CARRIED REFERRED TO LAW COMMITTEE LC rationale: Out of Order since it is not clear Softball Council agrees with Law Committee - PASSED

LC Proposed: NSAD shall recognize COED as a recreational tournament with awards is given and the players on a Coed team are allowed to play on the women and men teams with no restriction. 3.10 Men’s teams are allowed one hearing player, and women’s teams are allowed two hearing players. Definition of “hearing player” shall be a CODA, SODA or married spouse of a deaf adult. Lauderdale) 2.4 The Tournament Director shall have the prescribed duties to: 2.5.1 Inspect and approve the hosting arrangements of national tournament facilities one year prior to the tournament date. 2.5.2 Make sure the site will be at various regions. 2.5.3 Contact the site's fields for the future and sign a contract with them. 2.5.4 Contact the site's Hotel for the future and sign a contract with them. 2.5.5 Shall submit the artwork for the flyers to the Executive Board for approval prior to distribution of the flyers to the public. 2.5.6 Shall supervise the field and equipments to be ready. 2.5.7 Shall be in charge of program book advertising, trophies and souvenirs. 2.5.8 Shall supervise the admission people. 2.5.9 Shall select the Liaison officer at the tournament site. 2.5.10 Shall schedule the tournament games. 2.5.11 Shall schedule the umpires. 2.5.12 Preside at the Coaches' Meetings a day before the first tournament game.

SC-10-19: Moved when NSAD has 24 teams or less to adopt Pool Play and Single Elimination (World Cup) tournament. 1st amendment to remove less than 24 teams. Failed. Point of question in regards to main motion for clarification if more than 24 teams, to use WSL. Main motion tabled to 2011 Softball Council meeting. Passed.

SC-10-20: Incidental Motion by ESAD. Moved NSAD follow the appropriate chain of command when responding to regional questions. Passed.

SC-10-21: Moved to move Bracketology to the Coaches Meeting. Passed. ELECTION OF OFFICERS: It was moved to nominate Vance Rewolinski and Scott Bradley. Scott Bradley declined. Vance Rewolinski was accepted to be NSAD Commissioner by acclamation. Moved to nominate Paige Thompson-Matzker which she accepted as NSAD Deputy Commissioner by acclamation.
