• Station: 1 Title: “Cherokee & Creek Indians”• Name: Jackie Hone School: Arnold Mill ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Social Studies• Summary of Project: My second grade students have been actively

engaged in technology use throughout the school year. During this specific unit, the children created PowerPoint presentations, Microsoft Word projects, ActiVote Trivia questions, Kidspiration art, and went into the community to learn more about Cherokee and Creek Indians.

• Station: 2 Title: “Life's On My Mind”• Name: Kimberly Curran School: Arnold Mill ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Science• Summary of Project: The students in my classroom participated in a

project about Habitats. The students chose animals and then researched them using the internet. Then they used the information gathered to create a book. With help from me, we also created a podcast, a movie and a picture story.

• Station: 3 Title: “Georgia On My Mind”• Name: Laura Green School: Arnold Mill ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Social Studies• Summary of Project: second grade students were involved in a unit covering Georgia. The unit

began with learning about citizens in our classroom, our Woodstock community, and finally the regions of Georgia. The students produced a class book using Microsoft Word, a Power Point presentation about our community, postcards that were sent to all other 49 states, and a travel brochure highlighting one of the regions of Georgia.

• Station: 4 Title: “The Gift of the Cherokee and the Creek Indians”• Name: Barbara Garmon School: Arnold Mill ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Social Studies• Summary of Project: Second grade students were engaged in an in-dept study of the Creek and

the Cherokee Indians. Students visited the Cherokee Capital, met with experts in the field and conducted research. The students produced newsletters, Power point Presentations, and wrote books to educate other children about the Indians. Mrs. Garmon's class focused its studies on the Cherokee Indians

the Creek and the Cherokee Indians. Students visited the Cherokee Capital, met with experts in the field and conducted research. The students produced newsletters, Power point Presentations, and wrote books to educate other children about the Indians. Mrs. Wong's class focused on the Creek contributions.

the Creek and the Cherokee Indians. Students visited the Cherokee Capital, met with experts in the field and conducted research. The students produced newsletters, Power point Presentations, and wrote books to educate other children about the Indians. Mrs. Pigott's class concentrated on Sequoyah and his contributions.

• Station: 7 Title: “Tour de Georgia”• Name: Cynthia Rudin School: Avery ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Social Studies• Summary of Project: This project is about the five regions of Georgia. The students

choose which region to research and picked partners or groups to complete projects. The students were allowed to choose from a choice board of nine different activities. These activities included: Making Power Points, writing songs or poems and recording their final product, making commercials encouraging tourism, creating restaurant menus, constructing brochures, making indian villages, making maps, creating regional mobiles, etc. All of these projects included using technology in and out of the classroom.

• • Station: 8 Title: “Famous Georgians”• Name: Amy Walker School: Bascomb ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Social Studies• Summary of Project: Second grade students were engaged in a study of famous

Georgians. The students went on a webquest to learn about Jimmy Carter, Jackie Robinson, James Olgethorpe, and Martin Luther King, Jr. After the webquest the students created a photo story of their person. We also wrote letters to invite people in to talk to us about the famous Georgians. The students presented the photo stories and then did a flipchart with activote questions realated to their photostory.

• • Station: 9 Title: “Saving Dolphins”• Name: Donna Mihal School: Bascomb ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Science• Summary of Project: Students researched and learned about dolphins. They took

the information they learned and created movies to give information to the public to help save dolphins. They emailed different contacts such as Sea World, Georgia Aquarium, and Discovery Cove to collect information as well. The movies created will be sent to many different places to hopefully make a difference.

• Station: 10 Title: “Watch Us Grow”• Name: Marsha Mattson School: Bascomb ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Science• Summary of Project: Second grade students were engaged in all of the animal types

and thier life cycles. They watched ducks being hatched. A movie of this project was then created. They studied through a webquest all of the other animals life cycles. Then each child presented a project in one of the following: Microsoft Publisher, Active Studio, Photo Story or PowerPoint.

• Station: 11 Title: “Market Day”• Name: Susan Smith School: Bascomb ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Social Studies• Summary of Project: The students will be learning about the economy in a way

that will allow them to act as both consumers and producers in a real world setting. The students will have classroom jobs in which they will earn a weekly salary that is decided upon. Credits abd debits will be earned for behavior and kept track on Excel. Once the unit has been taught, the students will prepare for Market Day. They will write a persuasive letter persuading others to buy their product. The students will create a commercial advertising their product which will be filmed for everyone to view. they will also design an open/closed sign using Publisher. On Market Day, the students will sell and purchase items while the teacher video tapes Market Day.

• • Station: 12 Title: “Author and Illustrator Appreciation”• Name: Robyn Dailey School: Boston ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Reading• Summary of Project: Our class used various technologies to explore, discover, and

create a movie presentation about illustrator, Pam Aleaxander. Through the use of her literature, the students were able to use technology across the curriculum creating actively engaged learners.

the Cherokee and Creek Indians. They created a short claymation movie about the everyday lives these tribes and how they may have influenced our culture today.

the weather and how if affects their lives from day to day. The students produced a power point to educate others about different kinds of severe weather.

• Station: 15 Title: “Spaghetti Book Club”• Name: Marcia Boyd School: Holly Springs ES Grade: Second EIP • Focus Subject: Reading• Summary of Project: Spaghetti Book Club is an online book review

club. The project consisted of students reading books, writing reviews, and illustrating a part of the book. After the book reviews were completed, they were submitted to Spaghetti Book Club to be published online.

Concepts”• Name: Cheri Sue Harp School: Liberty ES Grade: Fourth • Focus Subject: Reading• Summary of Project: Students will each create a Power Point

presentation on a story we read in small-group reading. The will include genre, setting, characters, etc.

• • Station: 19 Title: “Mrs. Cone's "Rockin" Newspaper”• Name: Pamela Cone School: Mountain Road ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Language Arts• Summary of Project: My second grade students wrote and published a bi monthly

newsletter. The students held a news meeting at the beginning of each newsletter period in which they decided which articles would be included in that issue. Next, their assignments were made and the work began!

• • Station: 20 Title: “Caught in The Reading Web”• Name: Shannon Vickers School: Oak Grove ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: Reading• Summary of Project: Second grade students were engaged in learning about

books and authors of children's books. The students choose a story read in class or another book and produced a product. There were four types of projects including digital storytelling using Movie Maker, Claymation using Stop Motion Animation and Movie Maker, Power Point presentations using Power Point, and book talks using videography.

• Station: 21 Title: “Georgia Timeline and James Oglethorpe”• Name: Kim Townsend School: RM Moore ES Grade: Second • Focus Subject: • Summary of Project: To meet the second grade standards for

identifying the contributions of James Oglethorpe and comparing the everyday life of historical figures to our present day life we visited the Georgia Timeline at Reinhardt College. We also had Scott Hodges( James Oglethorpe) to speak to our second grade about what it was like to be the founder of the 13th colony Georgia.

animals that are native to Cherokee County. The students made claymation movies to teach others in the school about habitats that can be found in our area.

Second • Focus Subject: Social Studies• Summary of Project: Based on the GPS Social Studies

Standards, second graders study and learn about historical figures in Georgia history. Using these seven figures, plus a few more, students researched notable Georgians, prepared Powerpoint presentations, wrote, and performed a play (wax museum).
