History

espace Loggia was founded in the late 1970s by Mijanou Bardot, Brigitte Bardot’s sister. The company introduced a range of innovative products, including the very first loft bed to be launched in France. The concept behind the brand is: how to enable customers to take full advantage of the volume of a room, rather than being limited to the size of the floor space?

To secure its leading position on the market and to further develop its revolutionary designs, espace loggia created the first mobile bed on the market in the early 1990s. Beds could now be stored on the ceiling – the ceiling bed was born.

espace loggia combines an innovative, adaptable furnishing concept with the expertise of its interior designers and craftsmen. • Interior design advice :

Customers only need to bring a floor plan and espace loggia will design a creative, adaptable and stylish environment to fit. Specialists welcome customers in the company’s stores or on-line and help them to create their ideal product and find design solutions that perfectly match their requirements. The designers, engineers and assembly team will manage the construction project from beginning to end.

SUPERSTRUCTURE’s designer Guillaume Parent, who divides his time between designing his own range of furniture, creating furniture for the French National Museum Association and making signs for the château at Versailles. Guillaume Parent took on the task of diversifying espace loggia’s product range and stores in 2002. In early 2003, this partnership created new designs for mezzanines and accessories and added new colours to the range.

• Public RelationsIn 2006, through François Bernard, espace loggia met the public relations agency Mariette Landon et Associés, which was responsible for the launch of Galeries Lafayette Maison, the decorative art shop at 107 Rivoli (Paris), and which manages public relations for the Maison & Objet trade show and for Nature & Découvertes boutiques in France.In 2007, espace loggia and Mariette Landon et Associés began to work together. Christine Mazelle – one of the three partners – manages espace loggia’s image in the press and in the media.

Mobile - bed

The new generation of wall bed Free up the volume of a room and make space for all the required furniture. At night, the mobile bed is lowered to reveal a lar-ge, comfortable double bed. During the day, the bed is concealed under the ceiling making space for a bookshelf and a cosy living room. Hooked onto the wall or onto the ceiling, an espace loggia mo-bile bed effectively transforms a studio into a two-room space. The system comes in a manual version based on a counterweight and in an electric version.

During the day, the bed is stored out of the way, right underneath the ceiling; at night the bed is

lowered down into position, without any pieces of furniture needing to be moved.

Classic: manually moved along the structure fixed to a concrete wall.

The height of the wall structure is adjusted to the height of the ceiling (up to 3m).

The integrated shelves on the wall create a stylish bookshelf.

Champ Libre: specially designed for modern apartments, Champ Libre is fixed to a concrete ceiling.

Classic

Its sophisticated structure is made of the finest material: sea pine from the Landes (in south-west France) for the structure, and MDF for the decorative parts. Based on a simple and reliable mechanism, the Classic is made of a mobile board, a fixed wall structure that shelters the counterweight system, and the shelves.

Daytime - 34cm from the top of the structure to the lower part of the bed- standard version for ceilings from 2.48m to 2.51m- special heights on demand from 2.20m to 2.70m

Night time - the bed is from 0.60m to 1.24m from the ground (usable space below the bed from 0.54m to 1.20m)- Ladder or steps for heights over 0.60m

The two models, which can be either perpendicular or parallel to the wall, are available in queen size, twin size or single size.

This set includes a motorized platform, two ceiling fasteners that guide the lifting strips (max weight 2,000kg) and two tubes that guide the platform.

The bed is made of the finest materials: sea pine for the structure and solid beech and MDF for the board. The guiding tubes are in lacquered metal. The lifting strips are made using a pre-constrained fibre that has a resistance of over 3,450kg per strip of 75cm (copyrighted by Ferrari).

The mechanism includes a tubular engine with two independent levels of security – an auto-brake and an anti-fall device. In case of a power cut, manual backup is also available.

The bed automatically stops when the night-time position is reached. At the front, two retractable feet pull down onto the ground. On the headboard, the bed rests on two supports integrated with the guiding tubes. The standard space left underneath the bed is 78cm. Other height options are available. Light bulbs are also available as an option.

Size of the bed: 183cm x 230cm. Including structure: 204cm x 240cm. Other sizes are available on demand.

MODULAR TAILOR-MADE AND CREATION

MODULAR : these products allow all sorts of combinations. They are designed to adapt to any possible layout for a room. Each espace loggia set of furniture is unique be-cause it is made according to the customer’s re-quirements. The sales team meet customers in the company’s shops to give personalized advice to help with the building project.

TAILOR MADE : espace loggia provides spe-cific solutions for rooms that have particular constraints. Enlarge or trim down existing pro-ducts: the sales team is happy to study all possi-bilities.

CREATION : if a demand is very specific, espace loggia can create a customized piece of furniture, whether it is to fit a non-standard room or to fulfil a very specific request.The company now has a designated team led by designer Guillaume Parent, who has recently joi-ned espace loggia for this role. The R&D from this newly founded Creation Department will help to further improve existing products.

MODULAR

Leading concept, core business of espace loggia, our products are adjustabe in height and length. Thanks to this particularity, they fit almost every room.Two of our three loft bed product family can ajust every height of ceiling. The «MODULAR» products exist in 5 different bed size : twin, full, queen and king size (100, 120, 150, 165, 200). Every loftbed can be accessed either on the large side or on the length side, from the right or the left. Existing in many sizes, our complementary accessories (shelves, desk, drawer, sofa) perfectly fit like moduls with our loft beds. espace loggia loftbeds are made from two different sort of plain wood : Sea Pine from Les Landes and French oak. They can be varnished or lacquered in any of our 18 colors for Pine and 4 finishing for Oak. Thousands of possibilities are offered to you.Each espace loggia set of furniture is unique because it is made according to your needs and desires.

TAYLOR MADE

For some specific cases, standard products are not enough. For example, we can miss 10cm to fit our product in an alcove. A teenager of 1,95cm may need a bed of 2,10cm. It might be more aes-thetic to fit a 200 x 250 loftbed in a huge room, ...Through its production site in France, espace loggia can realize any loftbed from one of its standard product, in any size needed.

CREATION

Designer Guillaume Parent, leading the Creation department, can answer any specific demand from our customers that does not fit the MODU-LAR or TAYLOR-MADE products : How to create 3 different floors with a ceiling hei-ght of 4 meter ?How to create a lovely room for two teenagers, preserving their intimacy? etc.The Research and Development made in this newly founded Creation department will help to improve our existing products. A recent example : after a specific demand from a customer, the GP bookshelves got enhanced with nice sideboard. Since it is functional and aesthetic abilities, we released it in our new pro-duct line out in Spring 2007.
