Welcome

We welcome our visitors and hope that you enjoy worshiping with us. The red Celebration Hymnals are located under the pew in front of you. Inform an usher if you prefer a large-print bulletin, and feel free to check one of the “Visitor” mailslots in the narthex for additional materials.

Worship Notes

Today is World Hunger Sunday – a day to remember those who gather around tables which don’t contain the abundance that ours do. As we worship today, let’s remember that Jesus came that we all might have abundant life, and consider how God is calling us to reach out to those who suffer from hunger. Thank you for supporting them through your contributions to CRWRC. If you want to know more about world hunger or what CRWRC is doing to help, or if you want to find out ways that you can volunteer or get involved, please visit www.crwrc.org.

Today is also Preparatory for the celebration of the Lord’s Supper next Sunday morning.

The Union Update October 2009

FRIENDS???… Randy Rathermel, Operations Manager

Like so many others in the world today, I get home from a long day of work and sit down at the computer to sort through my email, check the news for the day, and log onto my Facebook account. I am happy to announce that I have 331 friends! (At least on Facebook.) I typically take the time to scroll through most of my friends updated statuses, which include many of the young people that I have met at the Union during our Saturday night hang out for high school age students. I am astonished to see that many, if not most of the kids have well over 600 friends on Facebook!! These are the same kids that come to me on a Saturday night, with nothing else to do, because they feel like they are alone in the world!

Maybe Facebook numbers aren’t quite telling the real truth. Possibly, just possibly, my young friends from the Union use their computers and Facebook accounts as an outlet, a place where they feel free from criticism and the cruel life that reality can hand them. So they open up like a paperback book on their keyboards, hoping that someone might notice them amongst the hundreds of updates they scroll across, as; I admit, some of them get lost among the numbers.
