Call to Worship (based on Isaiah 60)
Leader: Arise, shine, for your light has come!
People: The glory of the Lord has risen upon us.
Leader: Let us praise the Lord together.
People: The sun shall no longer be our light by day, nor will
the brightness of the moon shine on us,
Leader: for the Lord will be our light, and our God will be our glory.

Serving God’s World

and a time for every matter
under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
Please stand if you are able.
People: The Lord will be our everlasting light, and our days of
sorrow will end.
All: Come, let us sing to our light and salvation!
Hymn of Praise #66 “We Three Kings of Orient Are”
Prayer of Confession
Eternal Light, shine in our hearts. Eternal Goodness, deliver us
from evil. Eternal Power, be our support. Eternal Wisdom, scatter
the shadows of our ignorance. Eternal Compassion, have mercy on
us, that with heart and mind and soul and strength we may seek
your face and be brought by your infinite mercy to the Holy Pres-
ence, through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Hear now our silent
prayers…. Amen.
Responsive Assurance of Forgiveness (from John 1:9, 12-16)
Leader: “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the
world. To all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave
power to become children of God.”
People: “We have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son,
full of grace and truth…. From his fullness we have all
received, grace upon grace.”
All: In Jesus Christ, the Light that shines in the darkness, the
Light the darkness cannot overcome, we are forgiven.
Thanks be to God!
Song of Response #63 (verses 1,4) “As with Gladness Men of Old”
Passing of the Peace
Leader: The peace of the Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Response: Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen, Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom
come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day
our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is
the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
