2006-07 NEBRASKA BASKETBALL
Dear Husker Fans,It’s been a whirlwind since I came to Nebraska in early August but the basketball season is nearly ready to get into full swing. There’s a lot of anticipation to see this squad and I hope you are as excited about this year’s team as I am.
When I was hired, one of the first things I told the team is that we are going to play hard. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a practice, individual drills or a game, the one thing I ask is that they leave everything they have
on the floor. I think that attitude leads to success for us, and in the process, to some exciting times for the fans who attend our games. I hope you are ready for that and ready to create some excitement not just around the Devaney Center, but around the state for Nebraska basketball.
We will have a young squad but it will not be lacking discipline with Charles Richardson Jr. and Aleks Maric taking ownership of this team. They have been tremendous leaders for the program, both on and off the court, over the past couple months and I expect that to continue into the season.
The players can only control what happens on the court, but you have an important role that factors into each game as well. The one thing you can do every night as fans is to be loud all game long. We need you on your feet. And not just after a dunk or great pass, and not just in conference games, but for all 40 minutes of every game.
I know what it’s like to come into the Devaney Center as a visitor. It can be an intimidating place. I’ve said that I expect your team to play hard every night and when it does that, I hope you will get behind us and give everything you have as well. Make sure visiting teams know that truly, ‘There is no place like Nebraska.’
So come out to the Devaney Center to see us for every exciting game. You don’t want to miss any of the action.
