MESSAGEFROM THE

PRESIDENT

As SBA President for the past 20 years, I am

very proud of our accomplishments but thrilled about the future of the Club. The SBA’s goal is to encourage youth and provide them the opportunity to become great leaders in our community through basketball.

We create an environment that promotes social inclusion, character and leadership development coupled with a respect for the physical health and development of the community, and in particular our kids. The commitment of the Executive, the Committee and the dedicated volunteer’s everyday makes this Club great and we are the envy of Clubs in Canada.

Along with the expectations that children will be provided with the best care and coaching possible, comes our expectation that individuals assist with goals and objectives, as a Club of this size cannot run efficiently if all the work is left solely to the Committee and a handful of dedicated helpers. Whether it be helping out in the gym, board, canteen or sponsoring, your support is always welcome and appreciated.

The Club has come a long way but there are many challenges ahead of us, so let’s work together to drive this great Club forward.I look forward to meeting you in the days ahead and wish you an enjoyable and successful year of growth.

YOURS IN SPORT,

Sam MoncadaSBA President

The Scarborough Basketball Association (SBA), was

incorporated in 1995; 19 years later, it continues to be one of

the largest basketball programs in Ontario. SBA represents the

community’s basketball interests and its membership is made up

of student-athletes, volunteer coaches and officials,

clubs, camps and leagues (recreational and competitive).

For some of our youth, the SBA will be a launching pad

for a successful basketball career (student-athlete/ coach/

administrator) in college or university. Some may even

go on to become professional players/coaches, based on the

fundamentals that we helped them develop.

The Goals & Objectives of the Scarborough Basketball

Association is to create opportunities across the

Greater Toronto Area for all children and youth

aged 4 - 19 to:

Develop and build life, educational and athletic skills to become an all-round student-athlete

Learn and play basketball, using qualified coaching and programming C. Learn to compete in a supportive and development-focused environment

Improve the “health of the community” and to “develop the Game”

To encourage equal participation and strong values of basketball, such as teamwork and fair play within the SBA

To encourage and promote volunteer involvement in basketball through the Club
