Wood and sunlight seem to go naturally together. For Giolla Liddy it means using the woodworking skills he learned as a child to create a range of suncatchers to throw dazzling rainbow light all around. Set in the window to catch the light, the suncatchers, made in a range of woods and crystal shapes, create a spectrum of coloured light on the dullest of days. Barley Harbour, Casey’s Bogwood Sculptures16Father and son Kevin and Michael Casey are masters of the craft of producing sculptures from oak and other wood that has been preserved in bog for centuries. Casey’s sixty years of experience includes the design of many commissioned pieces for heads of state, celebrities and centrepiece sculptures as well as their range of unique gift items. Commissions are welcomed and they can be designed to re ect the personality or interests of the receiver.

The visitor studio is located alongside their workshop in a rural Shannon-side setting just outside of the award winning Newtowncashel village on the banks of Lough Ree. Visitors to the studio can experience the transformation of the bog oak from rough timber to elegant forms, told through the mediums of video and photographs as well as the comments of the sculptures themselves.
