LOW BACK PAIN
1. continue with your regular activities as
your pain allows
2. avoid prolonged bed-rest and long
periods of inactivity
3. stay active: consider swimming,
cycling, yoga or tai chi as your pain
decreases
4. try to remain at work or get back to
work as soon as possible
5. do your exercises regularly at home
6. start slowly and gradually increase
your activity
7. find ways to relax so that you can
reduce your tension or stress
8. consider a course of manual therapy
(e.g., spinal manipulation or massage)
9. try applying heat and/or cold packs
10. talk to your physician if you feel
counselling or pain relief is necessary
