    encompasses a broad range o technology solutions, such as intelligent oams

    or acoustics and crash management, new heat storage materials to improve

    powertrain efciency, and identiying approaches to make crack-resistant

    ceramic flters.

    Duringhis20-yearcareerwithTheDowChemicalCompany,Dr.Sehanobish

    has been responsible or pioneering work in lietime prediction modeling or

    polyolefn pipes, structureproperty relationships o thermoplastic polymer

    blends, and the engineering materials science aspects o metals, ceramics, and

    hybrids.

    Dr.Sehanobishwasoneoftheearlypioneersofdevelopingapplicationsfor

    metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resins, known as polyolefns, plastomers,

    and elastomers,startingfrom1989.Hewasinstrumentalindevelopinga

    broad variety o applications o metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resins.

    Hiseffortsrelatedtostructurepropertiesrelationshipsincludedpioneering

    work in the area o mechanical properties and tie-chain concentration over

    a broad range o crystallinity and the eect o processing on molecular

    orientationandlmproperties.Dr.Sehanobishwasinstrumentalin

    developing applications o metallocene- and post-metallocene-catalyzed

    resins, such as impact modifers or thermoplastic olefns (TPO) that are used

    today in almost all car bumper ascia applications, unique cast stretch flms,

    hot water pipes, and blown flms.

    Dr.Sehanobishhasauthoredaseriesofpublicationsandholdsmore

    than 25 patents in the areas o polyethylene pipes, blown and cast flms,

    speciality fbers and flms,andTPOs.Hisresearchisthebasisforthe

    INSITETMtechnologyplatformandnewresinfamiliessuchasENGAGETM,

    AFFINITYTM,NORDELTM IP,andELITETM.TheINSITEtechnology

    received the R&D 100 Award in 1994 rom R&D Magazine,andtheELITE

    enhanced polyethylenes received the R&D 100 Award in 1999. These eorts

    also resulted in currently more than one billion pounds per year o sales ometallocene-catalyzedpolyethyleneresinsbyTheDowChemicalCompany.

    Sincejoiningtheautomotiveindustryin20042005aspartofDow

    Automotive Research,Dr.Sehanobishhasworkedonthedevelopmentof

    plastics and composites or automotive applications, including several new

    products in saety, bonding, acoustics, and heat storage applications. Two o

    these products received the R&D100Awardin2005and2007.Dr.Sehanobish

    also has presented papers at numerous technical and industrial conerences,

    oten as an invited speaker.
