Dinner Table Topics

Prep – This week we are in Egypt. We have been building pyramids and learning about the Pharaohs in Ancient times! Year 1R – This week in 1R we are looking at Australian coins and their value. When shopping, discuss with your child the value of items and what coins they would need to purchase certain times. Donations for the spinning prize wheel stall are still welcome. Thank you to the families who have already donated!

3 St Helens News

Year 2B – If you have been storing 1.25 litre bottles of soft drink at home for 2B’s Family Field Day stall then please bring them in this week! The kids have loved checking out all the different varieties. Some students don’t have scissors or glue sticks. Is your child one of them? Please ensure your child has theirs. Year 2C - Last week Mr Barbeler kindly bought in his beautiful 1928 Ford Tourer last week for the children to see. We discussed the differences and similarities between it and a more modern car and this week will write some sentences to explain these. The children’s favourite part was when he sounded the horn! Please ensure you have returned your permission and health notes to the office for our Caboolture Historical Village excursion on September 1st. Year 3F – Once again, thank you for all the families who have brought in lollipops or small prizes for our family field day stall. We have enough lollipops now, but still need some small lucky-dip type prizes. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone could donate some for our stall on Saturday. Thanks for your support. Year 3N – How can a chair be tricky? When can 1 point be a safer choice than 10? How important is teamwork? These are some of the questions being raised by our new favourite class game – Tricky Chairs. We are improving our content knowledge, explanation skills, and resilience through this exciting, fast-paced game. Ask your child to give you a demonstration at home!

Year 3/4H – Thank you to those parents who have already sent in donations. Check your child's bag for the volunteer roster. Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

Year 4S – Thank you very much to the parents who have been able to donate to our class stall for Family Field Day. As I am aware many parents are far too busy in the afternoons to go chasing gifts. With still not many prizes for our stall, perhaps a gold coin donation will allow me to go shopping over the next few days to gather the last remaining prizes we desperately need. Hoping to see many familiar faces this Saturday. Year 4/5H – This week the students have been investigating perimeter. Ask them to explain what perimeter means. Don’t forget Family Field Day this Saturday. If you can help with the BBQ, please return the note sent home last week. Year 5H – Your child has started a new maths warm up called “Three in a Row”. Ask your child how to play the game and what the purpose of the game is. Year 6M – Come one, come all! The mighty show bag stall will be on the C Block verandah this Saturday! We have added Smencils and Smens to our stall which smell fantastic. Follow your nose!!!
