Crime Beat

10/11/16 – A visiting soccer player left her personal bag, in plain view, in a vehicle. The vehicle was parked in Lot 7 and it was broken into and her bag taken. The case is under investigation.

Crime Beat Tips and Holiday Safety Tips

The above incident is a reminder that when leaving your vehicle, be sure it is locked and secured. Lock any valuable items in the glove compartment or in the trunk. Do not leave anything of value out in the open for all to see. With the holiday season upon us, please drive safely and always be aware of your surroundings. Drive defensively. Traffic is heavier during the holidays. Drivers may also have indulged in too much holiday spirits. When parking your vehicle to go shopping, remember where you parked it! Always park in a well-lit and well-traveled area. Do not park in a remote or dark area. When you return to your vehicle, scan the interior of your car to be sure no one is hiding inside. Check to see if you are being followed. When storing items purchased at the stores, always place them out of sight! If you are of drinking age, don’t leave your drink unattended, and never accept a drink from someone you don’t know. Don’t walk alone at night; travel in a group at all times and never travel with someone you don’t know. If you find yourself at a party where you don’t know a lot of people or the crowd is unruly, grab your friends and get out. Call it a night or go to a party with more of friends and people you know. Keep your cell phone with you at all times and ensure it is charged just in case you need to use it to call for help. And always, if you see anything or anyone that is acting suspicious, contact the Campus Sheriff’s Office in Building 1800 B or call us at (707) 864-7131.

For more information visit the Campus Sheriff’s Office website at http://www.solano.edu/police/index.php

Turkey Drive! Now thru Nov. 17th.

Once again SCC will be collecting donations of frozen turkeys and delivering them to the Solano Food Bank. This is an almost painless way to make a donation, all you have to do is bring your donation to one of the many collection points listed below and they will take it from there.

We are asking for turkeys, but really we will take anything. Since we make daily runs, we can take perishable as well as non-perishable donations. And, of course, the food bank always likes money if you just want to keep it simple. Please feel free to contact Donna Meyer if you have any questions by email: [email protected] or tel: 864-7114.
