To have communication between the Babyphone and the PMR device they need to be set all on the same channel and within receiving range (up to max. 3 km in open field). Since these devices use free frequency bands (channels), all devices in operation share these channels (total 8 channels). Therefore, privacy is not garanteed. The babytalker opererates on VOX mode. This means that the device starts sending as soon as the microphone detects sound. The sensitivity of the sound detection is selectable. All other PMR devices in range , on the same channel and in standby mode (not transmitting) will hear the transmitted signal.

Communication from a PMR unit to the babyphone is not possible to prevent unknown persons to disturb the babies night rest.

Plug the fixed power adapter into the wallsocket.Put the power switch to ON position. The LCD will light up and the current channel is displayed.

There are 8 available channels on the Babytalker

• Press once.• Press or until you reach the desired channel number.• Press to set the channel.

Any user, with the same channel set as the Babytalker, can hear the transmitted sound.This implicates also that you can be disturbed by other users who are transmitting on the same channel.To filter the Babytalker signal out of the other transmissions on a 2 digit CTCSS can be activated. The CTCSS code corresponds to a specific tone frequency the Babytalker emits. When the PMR is set to the same channel and CTCSS you will only receive the transmission from the babytalker and avoid other users to disturb the signal.There are 38 CTCSS sub-channels available.

• Press twice.• Press or until you reach the desired CTCSS code.• Press to set the channel.

The Babytalker can transmit automatically a 1 khz audio signal every 30 seconds when it is in the listening mode.This function can be used in case you want to be sure that the babytalker is operational at all time.

The Babytalker will send out an alert tone when detecting VOX, and then it will transmit thevoice of the child.

• Press 5 times.• Press to enable (ON) or press to disable (OF) this feature.• Press to confirm the selection.

Adjust the VOX sensitivity turning the VOX sensitivity switch.

• H = Highest sensitivity position• A = Lowest sensitivity position

Try the VOX sensitivity and excercise sufficiently before using the Babytalker 1000

2.1.1 Removing/Installing the Belt Clip1. To remove the clip from the unit, push the belt clip towards the

antenna, while pulling the clip tab.2. When re-installing the belt clip, a click indicates the BeltClip

is locked into position.

2.1.2 Battery Installation1. Remove the belt clip.2. Press the battery cover and slide it away from the antenna. 3. Install 4 ‘AAA’ alkaline or rechargeable batteries following

the polarity as shown.4. Re-install the Battery Cover and Belt Clip

Dispose of batteries at a designated battery disposal unit and not in the household waste. Do not shortcircuit & dispose of in fire. Remove the batteries if this device is not going to be used for a long period.

The BATTERY CHARGE LEVEL is indicated by the number of squares present inside the BATTERY icon on the LCD Screen.

When the BATTERY CHARGE LEVEL is low, the BATTERY icon will flash to indicate that the batteries need to be replaced or recharged.

The PMR can be used with 4 alcaline or rechargeable NiMh AAA batteries (no batteries included).

When using rechargeable batteries you can use the enclosed the adapter to charge.

• Insert four (4) “AAA” rechargeable batteries (not included).• Plug the small plug of the 7,5 V DC / 200 mA adapter into the Charger Jack b and the other end in the

electrical socket.• The battery indicator will be displayed.

NOTE: It takes approximately 8 to 10 hours to fully charge the batteries.

Only use the enclosed AC/DC ADAPTER with “AAA” rechargeable batteries (not included). Do not charge this unit when regular “AAA” alkaline batteries are installed.

• To activate; press and hold . The unit will “beep” and the LCD Screen will display the current channel. • To switch off; press and hold again. The unit will “beep” and the LCD Screen will turn blank.

The Speaker Volume can be adjusted using / . The Speaker Volume level isdisplayed on the LCD.

The PMR has 8 available channels.

To change channels:

• Press once, the current channel number flashes on the LCD Screen.• Press or to change the channel.• Press to confirm the channel selection and go to CTCSS SUB-CHANNEL SELECTION mode, or press to select the desired channel and return to

NORMAL mode.

The 2 digit CTCSS code corresponds to a specific tone frequency the radio emits. Two users, with the same channel and CTCSS set can hear one another.They will not be able to hear anyone else on the channel unless the other radios have the same exact CTCSS code enabled.

The PMR has 38 CTCSS codes available.

• Press twice, the CTCSS code will flash• Press or to select another code.• Press to confirm your selection and return to the NORMAL mode.• To confirm and shift to the next option, press .

NOTE: Any PMR set on the same channel can receive and listen to the conversation, also when the other use a CTCSS code.

To receive the transmitted signal from the Babytalker, the PMR must be set on the same channel and CTCSS.

The unit is continuously in the RECEIVE mode when the unit is ON and not transmitting. When you receive a signal on the current channel, the RX icon (o) is displayed.

You can use the MONITOR feature to check for weaker signals in the current channel.

• Press button for normal monitoring .Press and hold . After 3 seconds you can release the button. You are now continuous monitoring the channel until you press .

2.12 COMMUNICATE WITH ANOTHER PMR

The enclosed PMR supports all standard features and can be used to have a conversation with another standard PMR supporting the same standard.The other PMR must be set on the same Channel and CTCSS code before you can communicate.

• Press and hold to TRANSMIT. • Hold the unit in a vertical position with the MICROPHONE 10 cm from the mouth and speak into the microphone.• Release when you have finished transmitting.

• Press and hold for 3 seconds to activate or deactivate the BUTTON LOCK mode. The BUTTON LOCK icon is displayed on the LCD Screen.• Press and hold again to deactivate BUTTON LOCK

The PMR is capable of voice activated (VOX) transmission. In VOX mode, the radio will transmit a signal when it is activated by your voice or other sound around you. VOX operation is not recommended If you plan to use your radio in a noisy or windy environment.

• Press 3 times.• Press to turn the VOX feature ON. Press to select the VOX sensitivity level which is indicated in the right corner of the display. Press until OF

appears on the display, to turn VOX OFF.• In the VOX mode, the VOX icon will be displayed.• To confirm your selection and return to the NORMAL mode, press .

CHANNEL SCAN performs searches for active signals in an endless loop from channel 1 to 8.

• Press and hold . Press briefly to start scanning.• Release the buttons.• When an active signal (one of 8 channels) is detected, CHANNEL SCAN pauses and you will hear the active signal.• Press to communicate through the active signal channel. Press to deactivate channel scan.
