TIME FOR CONVERSION
Dear Friends, I hope this Lent – so far – has brought many blessings and graces to you and your family. As you can see, our mass attendance is growing during this holy season – and that’s a wonderful thing. We welcome all those who are visiting, those who are new and those who are returning after some time away-- God Bless You! Lent is a time to be generous! To give to those in need. Our Annual Catholic Appeal is being announced this weekend at all the masses. Each year more than 10 million dollars is raised to assist the diocese in the work of evangelization, schools, Catholic Charities, Catholic Migration and the formation of priests. Every parish participates and every parish has an assigned goal. This year our goal is $87,000. Anything received over the goal will remain here in the parish. When we make a pledge we will have ten months to pay it off. Next Sunday, we will be asking everyone to make a generous pledge to the Annual Catholic Appeal. Even though our assigned goal is $87,000- let’s try to go over it! As always I am confident that when we work together we can do great things. This week please consider what you are able to give. Next weekend we will have the opportunity to make our pledge along with the first payment. Again, thanks for all you go! Let us pray for one another! Fr. Rick
Queridos amigos, Espero que esta Cuaresma - hasta ahora - haya traído muchas bendiciones a usted ya su familia. Como puede ver, nuestra asistencia masiva está creciendo durante esta temporada santa - y eso es algo maravilloso. Damos la bienvenida a todos aquellos que están de visita, los que son nuevos y los que están regresando después de algún tiempo - Dios te bendiga! La Cuaresma es un tiempo para ser generoso! Dar a los necesitados. Nuestra Campaña Católica Anual se está anunciando este fin de semana en todas las Misas. Cada año se recaudan más de 10 millones de dólares para ayudar a la diócesis en la obra de evangelización, escuelas, caridades católicas, migraciones católicas y la formación de sacerdotes. Cada parroquia participa y cada parroquia tiene una meta asignada. Este año nuestra meta es $ 87,000. Cualquier cosa recibida sobre la meta permanecerá aquí en la parroquia. Cuando hagamos la promesa de pago, tendremos diez meses para pagarla. El próximo domingo, pediremos a todos que hagan una promesa generosa a la Campaña Católica Anual. A pesar de que nuestra meta asignada es de $ 87,000- vamos a intentar superarlo! Como siempre estoy seguro de que cuando trabajamos juntos podemos hacer grandes cosas. The True Believers began their Lenten journeys this week. We discussed the importance of the season, and why we recognize it. We explore why we pray, fast and give during this time and different ways for them to incorporate those practices in their lives. They also received CRS rice bowls and are encouraged to make tiny sacrifices in order to help those less fortunate than they are. Any middle or high schooler is welcome to attend youth group. ADULT CONFIRMATION We will offer a 5 week course to adults
(18 and over) who would like to receive the sacrament of confirmation on
Pentecost Sunday – June 4, 2017. Here’s what will be required: We will need an updated (new) copy of your certificate of baptism You need to be a registered parishioner of St. Bartholomew and attend mass every Sunday You will need to attend all 5 classes As you know, if you are not married in the church (married civilly) or living in a relationship you cannot receive any sacrament until the issue is resolved. For more information and for registration come to a brief meeting on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30p.m. in Heafey Hall (Ithaca Street). If you have your certificate of baptism bring it with you to the meeting. This will be your last opportunity to register! If you can’t make this meeting, please call the rectory at 718-424-5400.
CONFIRMACIÓN DE ADULTOS Vamos a ofrecer un curso de 5 semanas para los
adultos (18 años y mas) a quienes les gustaría recibir el Sacramento de la Confirmación el
Domingo de Pentecostés - 4 de Junio, 2017. Esto es lo que se requiere: Vamos a necesitar algunas actualizaciones (nuevas) copia de su certificado de bautismo. Usted necesita estar registrado en nuestra parroquia de San Bartolomé y asistir a misa todos los domingos. Usted tendrá que asistir a todas las 5 clases como usted sabe, Si usted no esta casado por la iglesia ( o sea casado civilmente o conviviendo) no puede recibir ningún sacramento hasta que NO resuelva ese problema.
Para más información e inscripción, habrá una breve reunión el Miércoles, 19 de abril a las 6:30pm en el salón de Heafey (Ithaca Street). Si usted tiene su certificado de bautismo debe llevar la consigo a la reunión.
