LETTER from the PRESIDENT/CEODR. DANIEL J. KAUFMAN

2014 Annual Report 2

I am proud to report that it has been a very successful year for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce. Efforts to create jobs and enhance residents’ quality of life are paying great dividends. Gwinnett County was recently named “a best place to live and work in the nation” by CNN Money Magazine.

A few of the Chamber’s most significant undertakings of 2014 include:

Big Year for Small Business! The Chamber partnered with the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to issue a proclamation designating the third week of June 2014 as our first ever Gwinnett Small Business Week. We do hope to continue this partnership on an annual basis. Our new alliance with the U.S. Small Business Administration has led them to deem Gwinnett their 28th city nationwide to host their Small Business Federal Emerging Leaders program. The Chamber also partnered with the Gwinnett County Library System to share awareness of resources to better provide for our small businesses and also partnered with seven of our municipalities to bring a panel of resource experts to their cities and local business owners.

The Chamber is fortunate to have a talented staff, passionate leadership, and most important, enthusiastic and engaged members and investors. Our dedicated community leaders have enabled the

Chamber to implement dynamic economic development and community development programs that have elevated our community and our Chamber to be the models for others to emulate.

It is because of our dedicated and engaged members that we celebrate our success. With your support and engagement, the Gwinnett Chamber continues to lead and shape an exciting future—not just for our business community, but for our entire community. Together we will ensure that Gwinnett remains a vibrant and diverse community of choice in which to live, learn, work and play, and that Success really does continue to Live Here. All of us should be proud of what we have accomplished together, and all of us who are privileged to work at your Chamber look forward to another terrific year of working with each of you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Daniel J. KaufmanPresident/CEO

Development

GWINNETT SMALL BUSINESS RESOURCESSmall business became a big hit in 2014, with the launch of Gwinnett Small Business Resources. The initiative was developed to provide entrepreneurs and small business owners with a comprehensive collection of resources, education, programs and tools to: assist in properly starting, sustaining and continuing to succeed in business, raise awareness of resources available to aid in success, position the Chamber as a reliable starting point for finding business assistance, gain practical and functional education in topic-specific areas of business and deliver relevant programming to help businesses grow successfully.

“EAT & EDUCATE” WORKSHOPSMonthly educational workshops and seminars focus on small business needs. The “Eat & Educate” series provides small business owners with in-person, topic-specific opportunities to gain the tools they need to be successful in business. Varying topics include marketing, surviving the first five years, finance and cash flow, legal and compliance, business plans, setting goals, minority assistance, networking, sales training, tradeshow tips and more.

SMALL BUSINESS ESSENTIALS ‘ON THE ROAD’The bi-monthly ‘On The Road’ program, hosted throughout Gwinnett County, introduces the many resources available to small businesses. This portable panel of real experts includes the Small Business Development Center, SCORE, minority assistance experts, as well as local city and county representatives knowledgeable in licensing, planning, economic development and more. Attendees learn about the many free or low-cost resources available to help their business succeed.

2014 Annual Report 14

SMALL BUSINESS SUMMITIn its inaugural year, the Small Business Summit provided access to a full day of resources, tools, strategies and education for existing small businesses or those considering taking the leap into business ownership. Attendees participated in breakout sessions on topics such as funding, planning, marketing, networking, sales, service and enjoyed engaging keynote presentations and a tabletop exhibit.

IN ADDITION, WE:Partnered with Chairman Nash and the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to issue a proclamation designating the third week of June 2014 as our first ever Gwinnett Small Business Week.

Alliance with the U.S. Small Business Administration has led them to name Gwinnett (and the Gwinnett Chamber as co-sponsor) its 28th city nationwide to host their Small Business Federal Emerging Leaders program - our participation makes Georgia the only state that is home to two host cities (Atlanta being the other).

Chairman of SCORE Atlanta, Dr. Robert Yancy said Gwinnett has opened a new frontier for their organization, and the Gwinnett Chamber/SCORE relationship is a model for the other SCORE Atlanta offices.

Recently partnered with the Gwinnett County Library System to share awareness of resources to better provide for our small businesses.

Worked with seven of our municipalities to bring a panel of resource experts to their cities and local business owners.
