Presentation Planning
• Follow a Simple Outline
– Introduce your problem. What led to your work? What were your goals? – Describe your solution. Tell how you did it. – Why is your solution a good one? What are its disadvantages or limitations? – Suggest other applications. – Do you recommend further development along the lines of your work? Why?
Or why not? – Summarise what it all means. – Tell your story in a straight line, and make one point lead to the next.
Comprehension is better when the subject is organised simply.

Presentation Guidelines
• Emphasis your key message
• Make it clear and focused
• Keep it technical and not marketing
• Foot-notes are mandatory (if you do not have a written a paper)– Someone may need to understand it in the future
• Add metrics and GIFs, to emphasize your findings or conclusions
4
Presentation Guidelines (Cont.)
• The presentation is a description of the material you presented in your paper. Having said that, avoid to copy and paste your paper to Power Point
• How Many Slides?– You have 25 minutes for your presentation. – Experience tells us that most SNUG talks do well with about 15 slides.
• SNUG Israel Author's Kithttp://www.snug-universal.org/authorkit/akit_israel/authorkit_israel.htm#4

Suggested Slides
• These four slides should be included in your presentation:
1. Title Slide -- The first slide in your presentation must contain the title of the paper (as printed in the SNUG Proceedings), and the author name(s) and affiliation(s).
2. Purpose Slide -- The second slide should state the purpose of the work you will describe (i.e., the problem you have addressed).
3. Outline Slide -- The third slide should present a concise outline of your presentation.
4. Conclusion Slide -- The last slide in your presentation should state your major conclusions.

Feel and Look
• Keep trace with SNUG template – Microsoft PowerPoint template
• Use max up to 2-3 colors in each slide and keep it consistent
• 4-5 bullets per slide
• Add figures – text only is pretty boring
• Add foot-notes explaining the slide
7
QA Your Slides
• Last moment before submitting your Power Point
– Review you slides with Slide Show– Check the colors with projector
Some colors look different in projection and on your PC
– Print out your slides and make sure that all the figures and text are printable

The SNUG Support Group
• You should think of the SNUG conference attendees as a big
support group
• The conference attendees aren't looking to catch mistakes – The attendees want to learn from your presentation
• There is one exception– If you plan on doing a marketing presentation ...

Before the Presentation
• Practice your presentation ! ! ! – Dry run with “real” audience
• Practice your opening– This is the critical to gain audience confidence and interest
• Make sure you remember the conclusion phrase. This is your landing, make sure you land well!
• Dress For Success– Conference presenters are never over dressed– Suit and tie are appropriate– Nice shirt and slacks are appropriate
• Use the restroom before your session
