PUBLICATIONS – Journal in Transition
Note: The journal Technical Communication, the official journal of the Society for
Technical Communication (STC), was a practitioner-oriented publication. In 1991, after
I proposed upgrading the journal to include more theory-based articles, the editor asked
me to create a new column, “Theory and the Profession.” Some of my articles for this
column underwent peer review and some did not. In 1995, the STC changed its journal
editorial policy to one of peer review. My efforts contributed in a significant way to the
upgrading of this professional journal for the Society for Technical Communication.
