I AM FASCINATEDBY THE ART OFTRANSFORMATION.

It was the light and mood, com-bined with haute couture fashion that fascinated her. Specifically, the works of Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts were most influential. Photog-raphy courses in high school, pho-tographing family and friends in the style of fashion portraiture, and advancing her education in this art is how she began.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, Violet-ta studied Photography Visual Arts and Art History. Throughout her ed-ucation, Violetta worked as a make-up artist. Providing makeup for her own photoshoots as well as other photographers, fashion shows, vid-eo production and live television. Makeup artistry and wardrobe styl-ing are an integral part of her im-age making process. She started her company, VM Photography & Makeup LLC, in 2004.

As not only a photographer, but as a stylist, make-up artist, producer and artistic director Violetta creates

one of a kind visual experiences for brands and editorial as well as in-dividual and corporate clients. She is a new kind of photographer un-bound by traditional parameters; a visual artist serving to curate an entire story through a lens as cre-ative director at VM Photography & Makeup LLC. The photoshoots she produces are created with a strong conceptual fashion emphasis and a willingness to explore in order to bring images to life.

“I love to create beauty and and I live to capture it,” says Violetta about her approach to her work. “I am fascinated by the art of transformation! The process of merging light, makeup and ward-robe together to facilitate a “new” person or character is nothing short of magical. The experience has a profound effect on my sub-jects. And the lasting effects of seeing themselves in a height-ened image is extremely gratify-ing to me. It’s what drives me to keep creating.”

I n March 2014, The Fashion Group International of Greater Washing-ton DC awarded Violetta the ‘Rising Star in Media/ Photography’ award. In 2015 Violetta unveiled ‘Women Of Colour’, a portrait series of six inspiring women who break the stereotypical mold of the Washing-tonian professional. The collection of fashion inspired photography with a photojournalistic influence exhibited at The Monroe Trust Art Collective to a sold out opening reception. In 2016, Violetta was se-lected as one of eight “Superfierce” artists. The traveling art exhibit, ‘Su-perfierce’ debuted at The National Museum of Women in The Arts.

Her work has been published in The Washington Post, VOGUE ITAL-IA ‘PhotoVogue’, Niche Media Pub-lications, Washington Life Maga-zine, Washingtonian Magazine and a national campaign for Planned Parenthood.

From the first timeshe flipped throughHarper’s Bazaarand AmericanVogue at age 10,Violetta fell in lovewith photography.
