    THECHURCHATCHANUTE

What can I say? Peopleof First United MethodistChurch in Chanute, you arean amazing congregation.Thank you for permitting meto enter into your heartsand lives for a year in ourworship and work for ourLord and Savior.

Staff...Wow! Youre awonderful crew of workersand servants, all of you. Andwhat a range of talents andabilities, temperaments andpersonalities!

God has blessed, is bless-ing and will continue to bless

you in this congregation andin this community as youkeep Christ at the center ofall you do, and Love at the

center of how you do it. Becareful of one another forthe sake of that Love whoseName is Jesus and whoseGrace is our salvation.Nothing can separate usfrom that Love which is un-fathomable, inexhaustible, and relentlessly in pursuit ofour eternal good. Nothing.

Now a word about joy--our lives, our attitudes, ourspeech, our hearts should beoverflowing with joy because

we know Jesus! Youremember the story of Pauland Silas? What theyfound themselves in, for allintents and purposes, was aworld of hurt--underarrest, bloody and beaten, chained hand and foot in aRoman dungeon, theyshouldve been filled with

despair! What did theydo? They sang! They sangwith everything they had! They sang joyfully andwithout ceasing at the topof their bloody and beatenvoices, because their liveswere no longer oriented totheir surroundings. Let merepeat that, because theirlives were no longer orient-ed to their surroundings...and may I add -- nor to

their power, prestige, credentials or possessions.Their lives were orientedto the Love of God inChrist and their tonguescould not silence the songsrising in their souls.

That is the joy I wishfor you, and for all who willbe welcomed into yourchurch family in themonths and years tocome--an unquenchable joy,

born of the Spirit, centered in Christ.

That is the joy I praywill overflow when youwelcome your new pastor,Rev. April and her family, and wrap them in your loveas they begin the journeyin your midst that God hasprepared, blessed and given

to you as a pricelesstreasure ready to unfold.

May the Peace of Godthat passes all understand-ing, keep your hearts andminds in Christ, now andalways.

    Thank you andGod bless you!

    Pastor Paul& Peck Kam Wolf

P.S. For those whose maincontact with FUMC is thisNewsletter, this is my finalWolf Tracks. I willcontinue to preach andserve in your midst throughJune 22, which is our BonVoyage Sunday--oneworship service at 9:00a.m. followed by a potluckbrunch. If not before, Ihope to see you then.

    The Sunday school

    teacher was carefully

    explaining the story of

    Elijah the Prophet and

    the false prophets of

    Baal. She explained

    how Elijah built the alta

    put wood upon it, cut

    the steer in pieces and

laid it upon thealtar. And then Elijah

    commanded the people

of God to fill four barrel

of water and pour it ove

    the altar. He had them

    do this four times .

    Now, said the teacher,

    "can anyone in the class

    tell me why the Lord

    would have Elijah pour

    water over the steer on

    the altar?"

    A little girl raised her

    hand with great enthus

    asm and said "To make

    the gravy!"

    cried again;"My Father!

Don't you care? You told me you would

    never there!""My precious son",

the father said,as he in lovebowed down,

I could not fix your toy,

    you see,cause you did

not let go,but give me pleaseeach broken part,
