CRITICITÀ TERRITORIALI & PIANIFICAZIONE: VALUTAZIONI AMBIENTALI E SOSTENIBILITÀ
LAND THREATS & PLANNING: ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY
PIANIFICAZIONE URBANA SOSTENIBILE
2014/2015

… and now don't you believe we need to improve land use planning as a science?
Ecco quindi:INTRODUZIONE ALLA VAS INTERPRETANDO GLI STANDARD
URBANISTICI IN SENSO AMBIENTALE A PARTIRE DALLE CRITICITÀ TERRITORIALI E DALLA PIANIFICAZIONE, DAI SISTEMI DI
VALUTAZIONE AMBIENTALE E DALLA SOSTENIBILITÀ
INTRODUCTION TO THE SEA TRANSLATING FACILITIES AND PUBLIC SERVICES IN URBAN ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

Cicli chimico-fisico-biologiciChemical, physical and biological cycles

(1) Eradicate extreme poverty and hungerReduce by half the proportion of people living on less than a dollar a day
Reduce by half the proportion of people who suffer from hunger
(2) Achieve universal primary educationEnsure that all boys and girls complete a full course of primary schooling
Luca Marescotti 18 / 38
(3) Promote gender equality and empower womenEliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary education
preferably by 2005, and at all levels by 2015
(4) Reduce child mortalityReduce by two thirds the mortality rate among children under five
(5) Improve maternal healthReduce by three quarters the maternal mortality ratio

6 - Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseasesHalt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS
Halt and begin to reverse the incidence of malaria and other major diseases
7 - Ensure environmental sustainabilityIntegrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and
programmes; reverse loss of environmental resources
Reduce by half the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water
Achieve significant improvement in lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers, by 2020

8 - Develop a global partnership for development Develop further an open trading and financial system that is rule-based, predictable
and non-discriminatory. Includes a commitment to good governance, development and poverty reduction—nationally and internationally
Address the least developed countries’ special needs. This includes tariff- and quota-free access for their exports; enhanced debt relief for heavily indebted poor countries;
cancellation of official bilateral debt; and more generous official development assistance for countries committed to poverty reduction

(...) 8 - Develop a global partnership for development
(...) Address the special needs of landlocked and small island developing States
Deal comprehensively with developing countries’ debt problems through national and international measures to make debt sustainable in the long term
In cooperation with the developing countries, develop decent and productive work for youth
In cooperation with pharmaceutical companies, provide access to affordable essential drugs in developing countries
In cooperation with the private sector, make available the benefits of new technologies—especially information and communications technologies.

Categories of ecosystem services
Provisionary – products obtained from ecosystems e.g. food, fiber and energy;
Regulatory – benefits from regulation of ecosystem processes e.g. air and water filtration;
Cultural – nonmaterial benefits from ecosystems, e.g. spiritual enrichment, cognitive development, recreation, and aesthetic experiences;
and
Supportive – necessary for the functioning of all other services.

D - Driving forces - Forze determinanti cambiamenti
originano pressioni sull'ambiente;
P - Pressures – Pressioni ambientali
Pressioni esercitate sull'ambiente in funzione delle determinanti, cioè delle attività e dei comportamenti umani;
S - States – Stato dell'ambiente e criticità
occorre tutelare e difendere

I - Impacts – Impatti negativi
la salute umana, le performance sociali ed economiche;
R - Responses – Risposte

To help achieve environmental protection and sustainable development by:• Consideration of environmental effects of proposed strategic actions
• Identification of the best practicable environmental option
• Early warning of cumulative effects and large-scale changes
To strengthen and streamline project EIA by:• Prior identification of scope of potential impacts and information needs
• Clearance of strategic issues and concerns related to justification of proposals
• Reducing the time and effort necessary to conduct individual reviews
To integrate the environment into sector-specific decision-making by:• Promoting environmentally sound and sustainable proposals
• Changing the way decisions are made
