Program Information 2016 Hobby & Small Flock Poultry & Small Ruminant Production Workshop Join Lincoln University Cooperative Extension Small Ruminant Program, University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, USDA – APHIS, and LUCE SW-MO Innovative Small Farms Outreach Program When: April 13, 2016 2pm-8pm Location: April 13, 2016 Fairview Hall 100 S. Central Fairview, MO 64842 History: Lincoln University Cooperative Extension (LUCE) Small Ruminant and Innovative Small Farm Outreach Programs with the University of Arkansas Extension- Poultry Division and the USDA –Animal Plant Inspection Service- Veterinary Services have joined collaborative efforts to bring a pilot program to Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas farmers that will address the concerns of hobby- small flock poultry producers, backyard producers and small ruminant producers focusing on animal production challenges for beginning and seasoned producers. There are risks in everything we do, and livestock production is no exception. If raising poultry, goats, and/or sheep; we encounter many obstacles that are considered risks depending on the type of production goals each of us might have. Goal: This program will address risks encountered when raising and selling small livestock. The goal will be to develop this pilot program into a significant educational series that will be used as an instructional program for the increasing number of small farm producers in an effort to increase the proficiency of knowledgeable independence of

Topics: Poultry Disease Recognition and Control, Poultry at the Farmer’s Market, Internal Parasite Detection Lab, Small Ruminant Diseases, Recognition and Prevention, and Question and Answer Session. 

Conference Format: Light snacks and water will be provided during workshop; along with educational materials. Lunch is on your own.
