A Message from the Principal Dear Families,
A prayer for holidays Thank you for all the beauty and joy and wonder of the holidays.
Bring sweet moments into the hard days. Show your fingerprints and signs of your faithfulness and goodness.
Amen
On Sunday we celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist in our parish with over 45 candidates. It was a beautiful celebration for all candidates and their families as well as members of our parish and school community in attendance. Congratulations and best wishes to: Laurence Areliano, Adeline Coco, Davin Gilligan, Kayden Mendes, Karys Sheridan, Daniel Liberato, Lachlan Doherty, Johan Siby, Gianne Gaspar, William Stokes, Max and Phoebe Hennessy, Molly King, Francesca Hilario, Darius and Luka Krajsek and, Sienna and Kylie Ammerlaan. I wish to acknowledge the work of Fathers’ Dave and Anthony, as well as Emma McDonald, our Religious Education Coordinator and, Tony O’Brien as a member of our Parish Sacramental Team. Congratulations to Nyasha Mandivheyi who represented our school
community with pride at recent Catholic Primary Schools Public Speaking
Competition. We are all very proud of his achievement. I wish to
acknowledge the work of his teachers in his preparation around this –
Sinèad Walsh, Caoimhe Kalinowsky and Matthew Kleidon. All speeches
as presented by students of our respective Catholic Schools were well
prepared and organised. Congratulations Sacred Heart Catholic Primary
School in taking the shield home for 2020.
Congratulations to Baylen Whittaker, Robert Hawes, Odin Kainulainen,
Daniel Liberato, Madison Woolley, Francesca Hilario, Tevin Ullas, John
Siby, Leo Nyugen, Isidore De Zylva, Amelia Barnett, Savannah Coco,
Annalise Nicholls and Amelia Kempster on their involvement in
Tournament of Minds (ToM) this term. ToM gave our students the
opportunity to publicly demonstrate their skills, strengths and talents in
an exciting and vibrant way. The students were invited to solve an
authentic, open-ended challenge that fostered creative, divergent think-
ing whilst developing collaborative enterprise, excellence and teamwork.
The judges provided positive feedback for the students and commended
them for their efforts and creativity in solving the super challenge. This is
the first time Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School has entered into the
competition and we are very proud of each and every student.
This week we celebrate Book Week. We have a parade scheduled this Friday from 8:10am. We look forward to our children coming to school dressed as their book character. Thanks to Mrs Chris Crimmings in her work with Book Fair which is taking place in our library. Yesterday our Year 4/5/6 girls participated in Pink Power at TIO Stadium. Thanks Shelley Murtagh in coordinating and to Makaela Hunt in going along to coach and support our players. Our students had a wonderful time.
Our Transition/Year 1 students went on excursion to Crocodylus Park during the week. Some highlights for them were the snapping crocodiles, the lions in their enclosure and watching the meerkats walk around. Thanks to Mrs Tracey Coco, Mrs Fiona Bugden and Mrs Alicia McManus in organising this great day out.
I wish to acknowledge the work of our National Evangelisation Team who continue to work closely with all students and staff of our school. On Friday they worked with our Year 5 students for purpose of retreat. The theme was ‘Stepping Up’. In addition, they came along to support our AFL team at TIO Stadium last Thursday afternoon. We congratulate Holy Family Catholic Primary School in taking the title of 2020, AFL Primary Challenge winners for school year. The team is visible to our church also in their attendance and work through our parish. We thank Kathryn Pettersen and her team in making possible.
I thank you all for your support around Crazy Hair last week. This year I believe we saw some of the best hair designs on display. Thanks to Mrs Sharon Floyd in coordinating. In total, we raised $300.00 for Cystic Fibrosis Australia. I clearly have some work to do around my hair style.

PASTORAL CARE AND WELLBEING
Student, staff and family wellbeing is a focus and priority here at Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School. To keep you all informed, we are providing weekly updates regarding wellbeing, including support policy and procedures that we have in place here at Holy Spirit.
In November 2018, the Australian Government, in partnership with Beyond Blue, launched Be You, an online platform that provides edu-cators with tools and strategies to support the mental health and wellbeing in our school. More information about this will be included in our newsletter each week.
Our Vision and Mission Statement is central to our school when implementing policy and procedures.
We encourage you to take the time each week to discuss this as a family. Please do not hesitate in speaking with classroom teachers or members of our Pastoral Care and Wellbeing Team for clarification.
Kind Regards,
Sinèad, Dell, Mary, Ashe-Leigh, & Paula Pastoral Care & Wellbeing Team
