This catalog : is a list of the contents of a library or a group of libraries, arranged according to any of various systems(Author, title, subject ,date of publication, classification number, or all of them together)

Classification

DefinitionDefinitionIn Library &information science, it means: arranging books on the shelves according to their similarity in subject, using classification symbols (called notation ).

This notation is found in a classification scheme or system. Moreover, Classification provides a system for organizing

knowledge. Classification may be used to organize knowledge represented in any form, e.g., books, documents , electronic

resources.

However, small libraries (or children libraries) may do without a classification system and would prefer to use different

colors of books ,or any other local classification systems, to arrange their holdings.
