This office is going to hold a Transfer Mela of Lecturers/ Masters/ Teachers working in the District on February 22 to February 23, 2016 (Monday & Tuesday) at Girls Higher Sec. School Anantnag to effect transfers of the stay-matured teaching personnel. On February 22, 2016, the Mela shall be restricted to teachers only and on February 23, it shall be for lecturers and masters.The objective of holding such a Mela is to provide adequate staff to the staff-deficient schools, to provide subject experts to schools that lack such staff, to provide relief to the teaching staff that has over-due stay at far-off places and to address the public grievances regarding over-due stay of teaching-staff in their home localities/towns.The exercise shall be carried out by involving the Cluster Heads concerned, the Zonal Education Officers, the Principals and the Headmasters of each cluster. The participation of other stake holders is also solicited to make the exercise inclusive and transparent.The Cluster Heads, the Principals, the Zonal Education Officers and the Headmasters are as such required to work-out details regarding requirement of staff at schools, having regard to the formula of 5, 8 and 10 teachers/masters for Primary, Middle and High Schools respectively and also identify gaps in the requirement of subject-expert teachers so that the exercise is carried-out in an efficacious manner.The lecturers/masters/teachers who are desirous of getting themselves transferred-out shall be required to submit an application, on the devised format given below, and the teaching personnel having mature stay but don’t put in their applications shall be transferred out suo moto.The devised template for the application is as under:Name of the Lecturer/Master /Teacher

Film maker Jalal-u-Din wins Golden Beaver award

Waterbird census begins in KashmirSrinagar, Feb 16: A two-day census of waterbirds began today in 23 wetlands of Kash-mir valley which host close to a million migratory birds every winter in addition to hundreds of thousands of local species.

"In connection with Inter-national Waterbird census and Asian Waterbird census 2016, the Department of Wild-life Protection organised a two-day programme at Hok-

ersar which began today," an official spokesman said.

The programme saw par-ticipants including students, NGOs and Wildlife SOS, the spokesman said.

"The department is organising this event in all the important wetlands which include Hokersar, Shallabugh, Wullar, Dal, Anchar, Haigam and Chat-tlum," Chief Wildlife Warden Deepak Khanna said.

"This event is called the Asian waterbird census which is part of a global water bird programme, the International waterbird census coordinated by Wetlands International Netherlands," Khanna said.

Prior to the exercise, an orientation session for the participants was held at Hok-ersar where they were given first-hand knowledge of the methodology to be adopted in counting the birds.

Aga Syed Hadi passes awayDemise widely condoledKargil, Feb 16: Aga Syed Hadi Mossavi, the elder brother of president Islamia School Kargil, Aga Syed Jamal Mossavi, passed away last at a hospital in Leh.

His mortal remains reached Kargil Tuesday afternoon and were carried to his ancestral village Minjee in the form of a procession. He is survived by three sons and a daughter.

Various political parties, legis-lators and people from different walks of life have condoled the demise of 82-year-old Syed Hadi.

Chairman J&K Legisla-tive Council, Haji Anayat Ali expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, saying the demise has deprived Kargil of a great scholarly personality.

Anantnag woman set on fire Srinagar, Feb 16: A woman was allegedly set on fire by her in-laws in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, police said today.

The victim's father Abdul Rashid Ganaie, approached the police along with his injured daughter Tanveera and reported that she was set on fire by her in-laws at Hazratbal.

As per the medical report, the woman has sustained 15 per cent burn injuries and is being treated in District Hospi-tal Anantnag, the spokes-man said.

He said police has regis-tered a case and investiga-tion is on. PTI

Srinagar, Feb 16: The Kash-miri film-maker Jalal-u-Din Baba has won the Golden Beaver award for his docu-mentary Saving the Saviour at the 6th National Science Film Awards in Mumbai. He also won the Jury Best Film Director award.

Baba’s film was select-ed by a jury of eminent film makers like Dr Mike Pandey, Director MCRC, Jamia Milia Islamia Iftikhar Ahmad, and some top notch nuclear scientists, physi-cists and Bollywood script writers and film editors. The panel was chaired by Shyam Benegal,

The documentary was appreciated “for its simplicity, treatment and the narrative”. .

Srinagar, Feb 16: Jammu Kashmir National Front (NF) chairman and Hur-riyat Conference (G) leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan today met Pakistan envoy to India, Abdul Basit, in New Delhi and dis-cussed various issues relating to Kashmir issue with him.

“Pakistan is the only means through which Kash-miris reach out to interna-tional brethren so Islamabad should increase its diplomat-ic efforts vis-a-vis Kashmir,” a spokesman of NF said in a statement today while quot-ing Nayeem Khan as saying.

“The solution to the vexed

issue could end ten-sions in the subcon-tinent and secure the future of over a bil-lion people of South Asia besides bring-ing stability and eco-nomic prosperity to the region,” Nayeem Khan said.

“Abdul Basit assured Nayeem Ahmad Khan that the resolution of Kashmir issue in accordance to UN Resolutions and aspira-tions of Kashmiri people is the established policy of Pakistan. He also said there is no change in Pak policy regarding Jammu Kashmir including Gilgit Baltistan,” the spokesman said.

Srinagar, Feb 16: The 19th meeting of University Build-ing Committee (UBC) of Cen-tral University of Kashmir (CUK) was held at Nowgam-II academic block of the varsity which discussed the measures to set up CUK campus at Gan-derbal.

On the occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof Mehraj ud Din Mir asked the UBC mem-bers to contribute proactively in the ongoing construction of the university campus.

“The VC asked the NBCC and PMC to expedite the work on the pre-engineered buildings so that academic

activities of the University would be shifted to Ganderbal immediately. He stressed the concerned agencies to remove the bottlenecks and ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time,” a CUK spokesperson said.
