London is the capital of England as well as the United Kingdom.

The arms of England are formed by a single field “gules” with three gold lions.

Inglaterra é uma das nações constituintes do Reino Unido. O país faz fronteira com a Escócia ao norte e com o País de Gales a oeste.

A capital de Inglaterra é Londres, embora também seja a do Reino Unido.

O brasão da Inglaterra é formado por um único “campo”em que aparecem três leões.

On the night of Christmas there are some very common activities in the UK:

Go to Mass at midnight, sing Christmas songs/carols on the streets or visit their neighbours.

Another tradition is to leave food for Santa and his reindeers. For Father Christmas it is left a fruit pie, sherry and a certain type of wine or milk. People also leave carrots for the reindeers.

A very common tradition among English that began in 1932 with King George V, is to listen to the speech of Queen Elizabeth II on Christmas Day after dinner.

Another typically English tradition is that of the "crackers“: a cylinder wrapped in gift paper with two ends, containing small gifts inside, which are “disputed” by two people.

Na noite de Natal existem algumas atividades muito comuns no Reino Unido:

Ir a missa á meia noite, cantar músicas natalícias nas ruas ou visitar os vizinhos.

Outra tradição é deixar comida para o Pai Natal e para as suas renas. Para o Pai Natal deixam uma torta de frutas, xerez, um certo tipo de vinho ou leite. Para as renas, cenouras.

Uma tradição muito comum entre os ingleses e que teve início em 1932 com o rei George V, é ouvir o discurso da Rainha Elizabeth II no dia de Natal após o jantar.

Outra tradição tipicamente inglesa é a dos "crackers“ : uns cilindros enrolados em papel de presente com duas extremidades, que são disputados por duas pessoas e que contêm pequenos presentes no seu interior.
