Minutes 82nd Cole Family Reunion Harley Park, Boonville, Missouri August L4,zOtG Continuing the 82 year old tradition, 2l- Cole family members gathered August L4,2016, the second Sunday in August, for a picnic in Harley Park, Boonville. The day was breezy and sunny, making lunch, visiting, and additions for the scrap books very pleasant and enjoyable. The Friends of Historic Boonville had the Cole memorabilia on display Saturday, and several had met Saturday evening for supper and sightseeing. Nancy Ward, Vice President explained some of the new attractions as the business meeting began: The new Boonville Visitors Center recently opened and is a wonderful addition to our town. lt is a beautiful refurbished grocery wholesale warehouse building, right next to the Katy trail head on Spring Street. They have dedicated a small corner to Hannah Cole and I will contact them soon to see if there is any other information they need or want to add. Minutes and Treasury Report: The group accepted the 8L't Reunion Minutes and Treasury Report. The hat was passed to collect donations for each fund, and resulting in the following generous addition to the treasury: Cemetery Fund: SZAZ General Fund: S 93 Scholarship Fund: S155 Total Donations: $510 The Scholarship Fund donation includes proceeds from auctioning Claude Spence's handmade birdhouse. Don Fues had the highest bid, to take home the beautiful piece of art. Board of Directors Report: The Cole Family Board was adjusted as Marianne Fues, president appointed Robert Painter of Kansas City, MO to replace the deceased, Jim Painter. The Board of Directors consists of Pat Todd, Carolyn Eichelberger, Charles Cole and Robert Painter. Requiring Board listing in the application, the tax free charter will be renewed this August. Committee Reports: Cemetery Report: Carolyn Eichelberger reported that Jim Huckabay continues to keep the cemetery looking good with mowing and removing of dead trees. fence at the corner is on Huck's list, still to be completed. Marianne contacted the Missouri Department ofTransportation who agreed to mow the right of way once per year. The family agreed to entertain an estimatefrom gravestone conservator, Tamara lnge for restoration of stones in the cemetery. Kim Dickerson andCarolyn will coordinate the initial meeting with Tamara. To be clear, Nancy Ward motioned, Pat Todd

seconded, and all agreed to turn over repairs of the Hannah Cole, large stone monument to the DAR.

Scholarship: Judy Cole reported that no applications were received this year. Committee members are judyCole (Chair), Missy Walker, Laura Cooper, Courtney Cole, Kim Dickerson, Ken Fortney.

Genealogy: Maude Painter Miller has moved to Arizona and has a new email address:[email protected] or mmiller@coleassociation.

Election of Officers: Pat Todd nominated and Nancy Ward seconded Marianne Cole Fues for president. JonPainter nominated and Nancy Aldrich seconded Nancy Ward for vice president. Nancy Ward nominated andMark Leedy seconded Kim Dickerson for Secretary-Treasurer. Since only one nomination for each office wasproposed, the nominees were accepted into the roles for another term. So, the officers for 2At6- 2017 are as

follows: Marianne Cole Fues, President; Nancy Ward, Vice President; Kim Dickerson, Secretary - Treasurer.

Family Member Recognitions: A favorite at the reunion, group recognitions follow: Youngest in attendancewas Sam Dickerson, 24. Oldest was Claude Spence. Farthest traveled were the Spence's, Claude and Lanellefrom Rock Dale, Texas. The Spence's also were married longest, at 62 years, with Bob and Pat Todd at 57 years.

Pat Todd had the most immediate family in attendance: husband Bob, daughter Kim Dickerson, grandson Sam

Dickerson and brother; Jon Painter.

Announcements: Concern was voiced at the speed of family information transfer. Marianne agreed to emailout announcements to the family, so contact her with family-wide news. lnformation also is posted on thewebsite: coleassociation.com. John Sage will continue on as Web Master. Remember to donate Cole items tothe Friends of Historic Boonville, and Hannah Cole stamps still can be purchased online at zazzle.com.

The meeting was adjourned, with all agreeing to meet again next year in Harley Park on the second Sunday in

August. Everyone gathered for a group picture.

Vice President, Nancy Ward was recognized for her recent award from the American Association of UniversityWomen. Nancy received the AAUW Community Women of the Year award from the Boonville Branch. She

Dora Margaret Cole, our beloved Cooper County Cole family centenarian, passed away on July 10, 2016. AtLO4%,shehadindeedseenatlotofchangesintheworldduringherlifetime. Shehadattendedthereunionsince 1934 having missed only five occasions. We certainly miss her.

When you visit Boonville, travel north across the Missouri Riverbridge, turn left (west) on the first road and you will find someinformation about Hannah in two small roadside parks on the northside of the road about % mile after the turn. Several of us

discovered this after Pat found it this year.
