What it is

We have created a new launch pad that will streamline the process and remove barriers to support our partners as we scale our SaaS offerings by offering standard platforms for provisioning our solutions on SoftLayer. In less than 30 minutes you can have a demo to share with your customers.

Problem History

SoftLayer Network problem (2 occasions)– SoftLayer has occasionally had a network glitches at new data centers– Had to reboot instances to fix

Instance gets deleted (2 occasions)– Be sure to back up your data– Copy/Paste between RDP and local is simple

Current Demo


Business Partner logs in with their PW credentials … (same user id and password they use for PW)


First time a Business Partner registers this message stating “pending status“ will appear

IBM Business Partner representative or manager must activate, grant or deny access


Once you are in … you are presented with these 3 options


Note that training, POC, or Demo prep requiring sessions longer than 3 days should be scheduled in a different offering such as Demoworks (internal) and TopCloud (Business Partners)


You may choose to download the IBM Welcome App for Local Platform Installs

Please note:Depending on your Antivirus program, you could get a security error message like the one shown here.Make sure you allow this file so that you can save the installer executable


Or, to start provisioning On Cloud, choose option 1…


Choose the template you want to reserve, name it and choose the SoftLayer Server that will be used to provide the environment


Click on “testing” for a quick setup …or choose up to 3 days for either a Demo or POC, these options will also control what info is required to be filled in

Click on Provision once info is complete


A second browser window will pop up letting you know you have provisioned a new instance… the actual process may take between 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on actual server load.

Click [OK] to be taken back to My Cloud page


After you submit, your option shows up highlighted in yellow, with status = Provisioning

This page is refreshed automatically or you can exit and check back later, once provisioned, your option shows up highlighted in green, also, an IP address and a password will have been assigned.


Once provisioned, you have 2 options to access; directly clicking on the name (hyperlink to the demo environment)

Clicking directly on this link will open a separate browser session.The user and password for the Demo environment is: administrator / IBMDem0s


Or accessing through RDP…

If you get this warning message please make sure you respond YES


When you RDP into the Hosted demo, you are placed inside the actual Windows OS of the Virtual machine…

From here you can start or turn off any windows component or service, copy files from your own Computer into this Image or extract a demo package you may have created inside this machine to use it on other Computer or save it as backup, remember all content will be lost when the provisioned demo expires.


If you wish to expand your demonstration’s breadth, you may add Demo Services that work in conjunction with the platform you provisioned earlier. Click on (2) “Extend your Platform” to add cohorts to your hosted services …


These are some of the environments that can be added to your Cloud Demo, just choose by selecting the box and clicking on [Add to My Cloud] …

A popup browser window will indicate the service has been added


Cohorts added to your Cloud appear highlighted in blue …


Clicking on the IBM SPSS Analytic Catalyst cohort link will open that application on a separate browser session …


By default, your hosted demonstration will be de-provisioned when its date and time have expired as stated under “Provision Until”. However, if you wish to manually de-provision it sooner, just select it and then click on [Remove from My Cloud]


Your demonstration’s Status will be highlighted in grey and now state Deprovisioning – which takes about 5 minutes.
