Forecasting for the WorldForecasting for the World• AccuWeather receives all official government weather

observations that are available from all of the world’s national meteorological and aviation services. These are received through several distribution paths, including a direct high-speed connection with the U.S. National Weather Service Data Gateway, which is also directly connected to the Federal Aviation Administration and the World Meteorological Organization.

• AccuWeather also receives weather observations from a number of private networks, primarily in the United States and Canada, but including some observations from all parts of the world.

AccuWeather DifferenceAccuWeather Difference

• For those locations that do not have “official” observations, we can provide either the observation at the nearest official site, or a computed “virtual” reading of the local current conditions, a capability available only from AccuWeather, based on algorithms we have developed that have proven to be highly accurate, taking into account the microclimate, terrain, nearness to water bodies, elevation, exposure and other factors that play a role in each location’s weather.

• All observational and other data received by AccuWeather are received via multiple redundant transmission methods to ensure maximum reliability. AccuWeather maintains a highly redundant and fault-tolerant primary computer cluster, with multiple servers, multiple telecommunications paths, and substantial excess capacity, to ensure receipt, processing and availability of information. In addition, AccuWeather’s facility is fully protected from adverse circumstance, with multiple halon fire suppression systems, facility UPS systems and on-site redundant power generators.
