• Hangyourwallpaperasnormal,themmakediagonalcutsfromthecentreoftheswitchorsocket.Trimoffanywastesleaving6mmexcess.

• Loosenthescrewsholdingtheswitchorsocketjustenoughsoyoucantuckthepaperunderneathit.Tightenthescrewsandwaitforthepapertodrybeforeyouputthepowerbackon.

WindOWs• Thetopofyourwindowscanbetreatedinthesamewayasthe

topofyourdoor.Totrimaroundyourwindowsill,makeahorizontalcutalongthetopofthesill.Thencutdiagonallyintothebottomcornerofthesill.Feelfortheendofthesillandmakecutsuptothisline(fig.8).

• Useabrushtopushyourpaperintotheanglesmadebythewallandthesill.Finally,scoreandtrimthewasteaswithdoorways.

• Takeanotherpieceofpastedpaperandplaceitupagainstthelastfullwidthofpaperyouputup.Thenuseapenciltomarktheedgeofthispiecealongtheedgeofthereveal.Thenputtooneside.

• Takeyourfirstpieceandsmoothontothereveal,beingcarefultolineitupwithyourpencilmark.Thencutthroughthecorneroftheoverlap.

• Carefullytear25mmofftheoverlapandthenuseabrushtoflattenitaroundthecorners.Thetornedgewillnotshowupasmuchasastraightone(fig.10).

• Finally,hangyoursavedfullpiece,makingahorizontalcutwhereithangsovertheopening.Foldtheoverlapintotherevealuptoyourwindowframe,thenscoreandtrimanyexcess.

dOORWaYs • Hangyourwallpaperfromthetopofthewallandsmoothitdown

tothetopofthedoor.

• Useapairofscissorstocutdiagonallyintothecornerofthetopofthedoorandpushthepaperintotheanglebetweenthisandthewall.

• Usethescissorstoscorealongthetopofthedoortheneasethepaperoffthewallandtrimtheexcess(fig.7).

cornerofthepaperwiththebackofsomescissors.Easethepaperfromthewallandtrimanyexcess.Finally,brushitbackintoplace.

yourwaydownthewall.Whenyoureachthebottomtrimthelastlengthalongthetopofyourskirting.

orspiritlevel.Measurethedepthofyourwindow’srevealandadd20mmfortrimming(fig.9).Bytakingthismeasurementawayfromthewidthofyourrollyou’llgetthedistancethelinesshouldbefromyourwindow.

• Markanewplumblineeachtimeyougoaroundacorner.

Picking your wallpaper• Ifyou’renewtowallpapering,tryusingaheavypaper.It’seasierto

hangthanlightpaperandyoudon’thavetoworrysomuchaboutittearingwhenitgetswet.

• Makesurealltherollsyoubuyhavethesamebatchnumber,otherwiseyoumightgetsomeslightvariationsinthecolour.

Should you use lining paper?• Ifyourwallhasimperfectionsthatwillshowthroughwallpaperthen

it’sagoodideatoputupliningpaperfirst.

• Hangyourliningpaperhorizontallysothatthejointsdon’tlineupwithyourwallpaper.

• Ifyou’regoingtopaintoverliningpaper,hangitvertically.

Buying the right number of rolls• Astandardrollofwallpaperis53cmwideand10mlong.Measure

aroundtheperimeterofyourroominmetres,includingthedoorsandwindows.Dividethefigureyouendupwithby0.53tofindouthowmanywidthsyou’llneed.

• Thenmeasuretheheightofyourroomandmultiplyitbythenumberofwidthstofindoutthetotallengthofpaperyou’regoingtoneed.

• Finally,dividethetotallengthbythelengthsofyourrolls(normally10m)togetthenumberofrollsyou’regoingtoneed.

• It’sagoodideatobuyacoupleofextrarollsjustincase.

Getting your walls ready• Firstlycleanoffanyloosepaint,plasteroroldwallpaperandfillany

cracks.Thengiveyourwallsagoodwashdownwithsugarsoap.

• Ifanyofyourplasteriscoveredinglosspaint,giveitagoodrubdownwithsomecoarsegritpaper.
