April was truly awesome. Our Cen-
tennial Celebrations were simply
fantastic. The rain held off mostly
for our Easter Monday commemo-
rations in Mineola, and the Irish American
Center did a fine job feeding all who where in
attendance.
Many thanks to Tara P&D for
arranging the bus for our AOH mass at St.
Patrick's Cathedral. Afterwards, the proces-
sion to the Irish Consulate was most fittingly
lead by our very own Tara Band. The cere-
mony was solemn, but the sun was a little
stronger than we needed. This was the sec-
ond reading of the proclamation for Irish Inde-
pendence I attended, the other being
opening day at Gaelic Park. It was good to
see the colors of all 39 Gaelic Athletic Clubs.
The Irish Breakfast at the Hall mark-
ing April 24th as the day of the Rising, was a
great success. Thank you all who pitched in
to help and there were many. Hope we can
do another breakfast and Sunday session
again soon.
The Juvenile Diabetes fundraiser
was also held in April at the hall. Attendance
was a little light from the division but we made
it up in absentee donations to put us over
$1000. Well Done to all!
The golf was good in East Durham,
as was the festivities around the town after-
wards. The semi annual NYSAOH meeting
followed on Saturday, and we will have to be
sorting out our delegates as we have several
brothers from NYS running for National offic-
es. Please advise me on your intentions to
attend the national convention.
On to May and many more great
events to look forward to in the coming
weeks. It’s time again to sit down with the
Marines and plan the Memorial Day BBQ and
stickball game. This event not only helps sup-
port the Division but it’s a fun day, so come
on out and have a great day. The doors will
open at 2:00 pm. I hope to have the tickets
and price fixed shortly. We will be marching in
Massapequa Park’s Memorial Day Parade on
Monday, May 30. Look for details in Kenny's
emails.
Find your AOH baseball caps for the
upcoming fair weather parades, Memorial Day
and Independence Day. A reminder that
proper attire is required for these
events. Let's look our best.
Congratulations to Steve Conwell,
Tom McHale and our Hibernian Rider
Bob McAndrews on receiving shamrock and
major degrees. Well done, lets get the rest to
do it.
We are had our first planning meet-
ing for Irish Night. We have secured
Shannon Breeze for the evening. I'll be in
Ireland with Fionn for the Gaelic Football Feile
tournament. Wish us well and for heaven
sake buy a raffle from me for $20. Thank you
in advance. Enjoy all.
Don’t forget to say a pray for our de-
ceased members and their families and our
members in ill health.
See you down at the Hall. God Bless You
and Keep You Safe.

The band is getting ready for the Memorial Day parade rush. We are dusting off the few American sets that we have and are getting ready to march in the Forest Hills Me-morial Day Parade on May 29th and in the Massapequa Memorial Day Parade on May 30th. Recently, the band has accepted an offer to perform in the Rose of Tralee festival in August of 2017. We are current-ly planning a couple of fundraisers. Please come down
and support us. The Band has picked October 22, 2016 as the night we will cele-brate the band’s 40th anniversary. The party will take place at the American Legion in Massapequa. More details to follow.

If one reviews your calendar for the Month of May as I did, you will find that this is truly a busy month. First Communion cele-brations; College graduations; celebrations of Pentecost, the Feast of the Holy Trinity, etc. We also have a Division meeting on Wed. May 11th..
The 27th thru Monday, May 30th will be a busy shopping week-end as we prepare for the hectic MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. (Remember that the price of gas increases annually in cele-brating this 3 day holiday so gas up NOW).
How many can remember the days of your youth when the TRADITIONAL MEMORIAL DAY was celebrated (On May 30th) with a parade (instead of a 3 day shopping spree). But this year is a return to our youth. The Memorial Day parade will be held in the Village of Massapequa Park on the 30th with a start at 10:00 AM.
It would be nice to see many of our members join the Color Guard and the Tara Pipes and Drums Band in the annual Me-morial Day Parade. Let’s show the community of the Massa-pequa’s that we are a strong and vibrant organization by marching in the parade.
This morning (May 3rd) , while having my usual coffee and a bagel at the Bar Harbour Shopping center I had a chance en-counter with the wife of a past member who informed me that her husband, Jim Fogarty died this past February. I was shocked that I was not informed of his passing but then I learned that Jim had dropped his membership. Jim was a past Editor of the Stars and Shamrock and was active for many years. Although he left our Division for reasons I am unaware of, I would ask that those who knew him remember Jim in your prayers. Also a prayer or two for Mike Greene, our “Million Dollar Man”, would be a kind gesture as he recovers from his recent set-backs. I too had some medical problems but prayers may not help this “chop breaker”.
Peace to all, Frank Flood, Deacon Chaplain, Division #15

An Bhfuil Fhios Agat
POBLACHT NA hÉ IRÉANN THÉ PROVISIONAL GOVÉRNMÉNT OF THÉ IRISH RÉPUBLIC TO THÉ PÉOPLÉ OF IRÉLAND IRISHMEN AND IRISHWOMEN: In the name of God and of the dead generations from which she receives her old tradition of nation-hood, Ireland, through us, summons her children to her flag and strikes for her freedom.
Having organised and trained her manhood through her secret revolutionary organisation, the Irish Republican Brotherhood, and through her open military organisations, the Irish Volunteers and the Irish Citizen Army, having patiently perfected her discipline, having resolutely waited for the right moment to reveal itself, she now seizes that moment, and supported by her exiled children in America and by gallant allies in Europe, but relying in the first on her own strength, she strikes in full confidence of victory.
We declare the right of the people of Ireland to the ownership of Ireland and to the unfettered control of Irish destinies, to be sov-ereign and indefeasible. The long usurpation of that right by a foreign people and government has not extinguished the right, nor can it ever be extinguished except by the destruction of the Irish people. In every generation the Irish people have asserted their right to national freedom and sovereignty; six times during the past three hundred years they have asserted it in arms. Standing on that fundamental right and again asserting it in arms in the face of the world, we hereby proclaim the Irish Republic as a Sovereign Independent State, and we pledge our lives and the lives of our comrades in arms to the cause of its freedom, of its welfare, and of its exaltation among the nations.
The Irish Republic is entitled to, and hereby claims, the allegiance of every Irishman and Irishwoman. The Republic guarantees reli-gious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all of the children of the nation equally, and oblivious of the differ-ences carefully fostered by an alien Government, which have divided a minority from the majority in the past.
Until our arms have brought the opportune moment for the establishment of a permanent National Government, representative of the whole people of Ireland and elected by the suffrages of all her men and women, the Provisional Government, hereby consti-tuted, will administer the civil and military affairs of the Republic in trust for the people.
We place the cause of the Irish Republic under the protection of the Most High God, Whose bless-ing we invoke upon our arms, and we pray that no one who serves that cause will dishonour it by cowardice, inhumanity, or rapine. In this supreme hour the Irish nation must, by its valour and dis-cipline, and by the readiness of its children to sacrifice themselves for the common good, prove itself worthy of the august destiny to which it is called.
Signed on behalf of the Provisional Government:
