French flavour next to the Champs Elysées-LA MAISON DE L'AUBRAC
Aubrac is a region in the Massif Central with its own breed of cattle, a Charolais cross renowned for its quality meat. This down to earth restaurant just off the Champs-Elysées is a surprisingly good bet for quality and price given the location. The service is attentive and the cooking amply honours the tender Aubrac beef. Wine-wise, the Rhone valley is the best represented region – we particularly liked their 1998 Châteauneuf du Pape or 1999 Hermitage by Marc Sorrel. The final plus is that the Aubrac is open 24/7.

American landmarks - HARRY'S NEW YORK BAR
The bar was acquired by former American star jockey Tod Sloan in 1911, who converted it from a bistro and renamed it the ‘New York Bar’. That bar was dismantled and shipped to Paris. At the time, American tourists and members of the artistic and literary communities were beginning to show up in Paris in ever-increasing numbers. Writers such as Hemingway or Sartre came there. The bar also became a popular spot for members of the American Field Service Ambulance Corps during World War I.
Come discover about 300 different whiskeys and, of course, a wide choice of beer. Jazz concerts take place on Thursday and Friday evenings.

The oldest house in Paris - MAISON DE NICOLAS FLAMEL
The house situated at 51 Rue de Montmorency in Paris’ 3rd arrondissement belonged to Nicolas Flamel and his wife Pernelle who built it in 1407 to house the poor.
In the 17th century, nearly two hundred years after his death, legends started to appear about Flamel being an alchemist who might have discovered the Philosopher’s Stone and immortality.
The house was listed as a historic monument by the French State in 1911 following its 1900 restoration when all traces of plaster were removed. The ground floor is occupied by a restaurant, the Nicolas Flamel Inn.

Yves Saint Laurent Foundation
On January 29, 1971, Yves Saint Laurent presented the ‘Liberation’ or ‘Forties’ collection, inspired by fashion from the war years. Short dresses, platform shoes, square shoulders, and dramatic make-up: these references to Occupation-era Paris caused a scandal. The collection was violently criticized by the press.

For the first time, the ‘Déboutonner la Mode’ exhibition presents a collection of over 3,000 buttons unique in the world, with a selection of more than 100 female and male garments and accessories by iconic couturiers such as Paul Poiret, Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Patrick Kelly.
Created by a vast array of artisans — from embroiderers, upholsterers, glassmakers, and ceramicists to jewellers and silversmiths — the buttons tell the history and evolution of those skills. The button has also fascinated famous painters, sculptors, and jewelry makers, inspiring them to produce unique miniature creations for the great couture houses.

( 2 consecutive visits) - Tuesday, July 7th at 11 am in French and at 12 am in English
( These hours are at present available but it can be quickly reserved)
This first Paris exhibition devoted to Jeanne Lanvin (1867-1946) features over a hundred models from the amazing collections of the Palais Galliera and the Lanvin Heritage. Jeanne Lanvin used travel diaries, swatches of ethnic fabrics, and a vast library of art books to feed her curiosity and inspire her to create fabrics, patterns, and exclusive colours. Jeanne Lanvin’s artistry included materials, embroidery, topstitches, twists, spirals, cut-outs – all the virtuosity of the couturière’s craft. It is classical French perfection, with very 18th century style dresses – narrow busts, dropped waists, full skirts – contrasting with the tubular Art Deco line with its black and white geometrical patterns and profusion of ribbons, crystals, beads, and silk tassels. 0 avenue Trudaine (on the corner) , 75009 Paris (A strange adresse but it’s the right one) Metro station: Anvers
OPENING HOURS:

Alexis opened Chez Bouboule in honour of his grandfather, a dentist in a little village in Cantal who was a huge pétanque fan. Here, ball-players gather around a narrow pitch behind a sturdy net (reserve your free half hour sessions in advance), and the friendly barmen oversee the rest of the bright, relaxed space. Pétanque stops at 11.30 sharp, and the bar’s success bodes well for the gentrification of this area south of Anvers metro station. Chez Bouboule's prices do seem to anticipate this trend – at €8 for a pint and €17 for a burger, you might want to stick to €3 shots of Ricard and tapas at €9 a plate.

The truffle - TRUFFES FOLIES
The most revered ingredient in all gastronomy, if any one food deserves a temple it’s the truffle. Hence Paris’ Truffes Folies, a temple to the black diamond, appropriately situated close to the Invalides. The Truffes Folies is simple but stylish with whitewashed stone walls and contemporary dark wood furnishings and fittings, tactile surfaces, and well designed lighting. With the focus, of course, on that elusive and prized gourmet item, the truffle, the Truffes Folies menu is imbued with that infamous earthy flavour but keeps a light touch and purity throughout.
