Venturi Scrubber Model- Given a number of books and sources for Venturi Scrubber- Created Excel File that models Efficiency of Venturi Scrubber- (5100-U200-CAL-005 Venturi Scubber Efficiency Calculator)- Collected Dusts from remnants of Old Venturi Scrubber- Sent for Particle Sizing C201 Fines- RCA Results (5100-U200-INV-006)- Test

Bursting Discs- Did some Work on bursting discs- Was given a list of 7 Bursting discs and needed to determine

whether the bursting discs are up to safety margin- Used a model already created in Excel to determine whether the

bursting discs were adequate

Reactor 307 Summary Report(5100-U300-INV-002) - Given Report summary for Reactor 306- Using ‘Minitab’, gathered data for Reactor 307- Input the data into a report and filled out parts of the report- Created the some Boxplots and Time Series Plots for the report- Sharan Computed the rest- Gained Experience in Minitab

January 2016- Star Valves Calculations- Chlorinator Report- Training Slides for Kemerton- PFD Summary of Kemerton

Star Valves Calculations- Did some work on Star Valves- Determined when which Star Valves (A, B or C) were operable

at what time using SAP- Determined when each star valve was changed Using SAP- Using this also obtained info on how much Chlorine, Nitrogen,

Peroxide and Sodium Hydroxide each star valve was using

Chlorinator Report (5100-U200-INV-005)- Created a new Chlorinator Report based on old chlorinator report

done by Sven- Gained experience and understanding in Lotus Notes and SAP as

those were required to gather data and information in order to complete the Chlorinator Report

Training Slides for Kemerton- Was Given slides for Gas Scrubbing and Vent Stack from Stallingborough- Asked to make one for Kemerton for U500 about the gas scrubbers and

vent stack there

February 2016- Control Valve Data Sheets (FCV’s, Slurry, XCV’s)- Chlorinator Start-Up Rates- POP/SOL/DOL Work Instruction

Chlorinator Start-Up Rates- Looked at TI-2203, 2204, 2205 and 2206- Noticed when temperatures were low (shut-down periods)- Gathered information and worked out the start up rates

POP/SOL/DL Work Instruction(AP_M009_WI0-002)Updated the POPs/Sols/DLs of a work instruction using data sheets

obtained from Organice and a Daily SOL Breach Report

What I learnt and Future

What I learnt- Gained knowledge on the process that went on in a Titanium

Dioxide industry- Learnt how to apply Engineering knowledge in real life

applications such as working out flows, pressures and temperatures of valves, efficiency of scrubber, filling in data sheets etc.

- Gained experience in engineering workplace related tools such as SAP, PI Processbooks, Lotus Notes, Minitab, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel

- Gained hands on experience on the Kemerton Site- Learnt a lot about safety and safety-related issues and that

safety plays a huge role in a chemical plant

Future- Complete Degree in Master’s of Professional Engineering in

Chemical Engineering- Use knowledge and experience learnt to help pick and write

Thesis Topic for the Second Semester of the year
