The area of land is 25 miles long and 7 miles wide Boarders Egypt and Israel The Capital is Jerusalem As of 2011 census 1,657,155 people reside in the Strip
Nearly 48% of people are Muslim 16% are Jewish
The Gaza Strip is about twice the size of Washington DC

The land was originally a part of the Ancient Egyptian region
Then in 1517 in land fell to the Ottoman Empire 1922 the region was placed under British Mandate

protection The Palestinian Muslim and Christian people welcomed the
Israelis into Palestine territory Aaiyah: Concept that Jews believe Israel belongs to them
Jewish Population increases in Palestine The Israelis want to take control of territory They believe the land belongs to them

people At this point Israelis were ruling the land This causes Palestinian citizens not to have citizenship in

Jews: Hebrew Bible promises the land to The Children of Israel by
God The Promised Land is a repeated reference among Jewish
writers The land was ruled by Israelites from 14th century BCE to
the 1st century BCE
+The Conflict Over Holy Land Muslims:
The Qur’an contains passages that promise Palestine to Muslims
5:21“O my people, enter the Holy Land which God has assigned to you and do not turn back (from fighting in God’s cause) and (thus) become losers.”
The passage is saying the Muslims need to stand their ground and not give up.
17:1“Exalted is He who took His Servant by nigh from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Asqs, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Ours signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.”
God ordered the Prophet to go from Saudi Arabia to Palestine.
+The Conflict Over Holy Land
30:3“In the nearest land. But they, after their defeat, will overcome.”
This passage promises victory to Muslims in Palestine.
51:37 “And we left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment”
This tells the people that Palestine is a holy land for the Muslims.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF)has occupied famous Masques and taken them over for Jewish Worship
Jerusalem has two famous Masques, “Dome of the Rock”, Al-Aqsa and Muslims are fighting to control both because they are sacred to them
Jihad in the Gaza strip is the right to protect self and religion by defending selves. According to the Muslim Scholar, Shaykh Adb al-kareen “It
is not permissible for anyone to harm him if so, he has to defend himself”

The IDF when upset with Inifadas run bulldozers through land demolishing homes, buildings and businesses. They then use the land as Jewish settlements
The purpose is to run the Muslim people out of the Gaza Strip leaving the land to the Jewish people. Over time the demolishment’s have been declining.

November 13, 2012 IDF launched air and land attack on Gaza. They said they were attacking the United Forces
The leader of the United Forces, Ahmad Jabari was killed by IDF
At least 10 people have been killed and several are in critical condition
Notes via planes have been sent to evacuate area Schools have been shut down and people are told not
to be out in public.
