Pre-requisites/assumptions

• AMDMspecificprofileisinstalledontotheMacdeviceandrelevantpermissionsgranted.• TheMacdeviceisenrolledintheMDMenvironment.• AMDMspecificClientapplicationisinstalledonthedevice.• TheuserisfamiliarwiththeMerakiwebinterface/configuration.• TheNetSupportDNAConsoleandSQLServerareinstalledonaWindowsmachine.• TheuserunderstandsAppleRemoteDesktop(ARD).• TheMacDNAAgenthasbeendownloadedfromwww.netsupportdna.comApple Remote Desktop

Remote installation Adding/deploying the applicationYouneedtoensurethesharingoptionsareenabledforremotemanagement.

1. SelectSystem Preferences–Sharing.2. Thetargetmachinesmusthavethefollowingthreeoptionsselected:

• FileSharing• RemoteLogin• RemoteManagement.

3. SelecttheDNAMacAgentapplicationandsendtothedesktopoftheARDmachine.4. OpenRemoteDesktopfromtheLaunchpad.5. SelectthemachinesyouwouldliketoinstalltheDNAMacAgentonto.6. Youcansearchformachinesusinganyoftheoptionsshowninthescreenshotbelow.

7. SelecttherequiredmachinesandclickCopy.

8. TheCopyItemspagewillappear.DragoraddtheDNAMacAgentinstallationapplicationintotheItemstocopybox.

Place items in: Ensurethisissettothe/Users/SharedfilelocationasthisisaccessibletoallusersthatlogintoaMac.Itisalsoaccessiblewhileusersareloggedoff.

If an item already exists:Selecttheapplicableoption.

Set item ownership to:ThisoptionneedstobesettoInherit from destination folder.

SelectanyotherrelevantoptionsandclickCopy.

9. SelectUNIX.

10. IntheUNIXCommandCentre,enterthefollowingcommand:

Theformatfortheabovecommandis:

11. Oncethecommandhasbeenentered,pressSend.12. ThedefaultpathfortheinstallisApplications/NetSupport/NetSupportDNA/SystemAgent.13. Thecommandhasnowbeensenttoallselectedmachines.YouneedtochecktheARDtomakesurethere

werenoerrors.14. ThemachineswillrestartandtheDNAAgentswillhavebeensuccessfullyinstalled.

Cisco Meraki

Adding/deploying the application1. LogintoyourMerakiinterfaceandchooseSystems Manager –Apps.

2. SelectAdd an app,choosemacOS,selecttheCustom appoptionandclickNext.

3. Enterthenameoftheapplication,“NetSupportDNAAgentInstaller.app”andanyotherrequiredinformation.IntheSourcesection,addtheDNAMacAgentinstallationapplication(.DMGfile)youcopiedearlier.

4. IntheDetailssection,completeanysettingsyourequire,setthescopeofdevicesyouwanttheapplicationinstalledontoandclickSave.

5. Applicationswillautomaticallyinstallifconfiguredtodoso,buttheusercanforceinstallationagainfromtheSystemsManager–Appstabifrequired.

6. SelectPush to all in scopeorPush to missing.7. CheckthattheinstallerAgenthasbeenaddedintotheApplicationsfolder.8. GototheCommandLineandselectallmachinesyouwanttoinstalltheDNAMacAgentontoandrunthe

command(seebelow).TheserverIPaddresswillneedtobechangedtomatchyourserverIPaddress(redtext),youcanalsochangetheinstallationlocation,languageandthewebsiteitnavigatesto(bluetext).

Ifyouhaveinstalledthistoadifferentlocation,theredtextwillneedamending.

Uninstalling in Meraki 1. GototheCommandLine.2. Selectalldevicesyouwanttoremoveitfrom.3. Runthefollowingcommand,thiswillneedtobechangedifyouinstalledtoadifferentlocation:

Mac OS 10.14 – custom configurationWithMacOS10.14,Applehaveintroducedextrasecurityprotectionforyourprivatedata.Usersarenowaskedtograntpermissiontoapplicationsbeforetheycanrunoraccesscertaincontentonyoursystem.

IfauserdoesnotgrantpermissiontotheNetSupportDNAMacAgent,certainfeatureswithinthesoftwarewillnotoperateasexpectedsuchasInternetMeteringorviewinganAgent.

Forsystemsadministrators,wehavecreatedacustomconfigurationwhichcanbeappliedsousersdonothavetoacceptpermissionsmultipletimesorwhenanewusersignsintoasharedmachine.ThisconfigurationcanbeassignedtodevicesenrolledinanMDMenvironment.

Onceacustomconfiguration/profilehasbeensenttothedevice,itcanbeviewedonadevicebyloggingintoauseraccount,openingSystem PreferencesandselectingProfiles.

Thecustomconfigurationfilecanbefoundat:

NetSupportDNASecurityProfile.mobileconfigfile.5. Configureanyotheroptionsonthepagewhichyourequire,e.g.Allow users to remove this profile.6. Adjustyourscopetochoosewhichdevicesreceivethecustomconfiguration.7. ClickSave.
