Which of these are Flowing-Water ecosystems?

Which of these are Standing-Water ecosystems?

First, let’s talk Ecology…..The interactions between organisms and their environment

Biotic Abiotic All the living parts

of the environment Plants Animals Mushrooms Bacteria

All of the nonliving parts of the environment Water Soil Air Wooden Chair Rotting log

Biotic Factors….It’s Alive!!! Producers-Produce their own energy.

Consumers-Must consume something else

Type of Consumers: Primary consumers – herbivore

Secondary Consumers - Carnivores which eat herbivores

Tertiary Consumers – carnivores that eat other carnivores.

Quaternary Consumers – eat tertiary, could possibly be a top predator.

Don’t forget the Decomposers!

Decomposers break down dead plants, animals and waste. They are SUPER important!!!!

So an Ecosystem is…..a system formed by the interaction of a community of organisms with their environment. It includes ALL factors living and not living.

Have ecosystems changed over time?

YES!

Rivers wind/slow down/widen over time

Mountains erode/grow grasses/become

inhabited
