WHAT IS A REJECTION ?

A REJECTION is a return that has been “rejected” by the IRS due to incorrect information

YOU NEED TO FOLLOW UP AND FIX! Gather the correct information and resubmit the return

The clock starts over!

TOP REASONS FOR REJECTIONS

1) Misspelled last names

2) Incorrect year of birth

3) Wrong social security numbers

4) Wrong EIN # on W-2

5) Maiden name / Married name

FIXING A REJECTION

Verify that YOU did not input the wrong information

Call the taxpayer. Verify the information they gave you. If nothing new is found, the customer needs to call the Social Security Administration

Once you obtain the correct information, simply open the return, make the changes and re-send to ATS

IMPORTANT!

If a return has been accepted by the IRS and you need to make a change

An amendment costs the taxpayer $50, collect the fee UP FRONT

The amendment prints on a 1040X, it will print from the same place as the original tax return

Taxpayer needs to sign and mail in
