Second month is here al-
ready, for a no doubt fast
year ahead.
News off the top is of
course that the White
Dwarf magazine is no long-
er. I am a collector of
White Dwarf magazine, a
monthly publication pro-
duced by Games Work-
shop. Although my last
year of WD has been the
digital editions, I have col-
lected every magazine
since issue 181 in the mid
nineties, and have man-
aged to collect a few more
besides. Now I opened this
paragraph with the White
Dwarf being no longer, so
allow me to explain for
those who this news is
fresh.
I have been told that the
White Dwarf as we know it,
has gone to be replaced
with a weekly publication
showing the releases of
new miniatures for that
week and will sell at a
price of $6. A monthly mag-
azine will also be available,
showing model painting
amongst other things, and
will be priced at $13. Any-
one with a current sub-
scription will be sent both
publications, and have the
offer of continuing their
subscription and receive
the $13 monthly magazine
at no extra cost, after
which they will receive
only the monthly publica-
tion. They can opt out of
the subscription receiving
a refund.
I looked at the white Dwarf
as another collectible, and
am sorry to see it gone
after so many years. I will
offer my opinion after see-
ing the new, and deciding
what my subscription will
be doing.
The GGG swap meet has
finally a date. The date will
be Saturday March 22,
2014.. The venue once
again will be BattleStation
Ipswich. Table hire for ven-
dors is $10 per full table
and $6 for half. Last year
table hire fees went to sup-
port Legacy, so it was for a
good cause as well, thanks
to Nate, store owner. See
the advert in this issue for
more information for the
swap meet.

DreadFleet
Game Spot-Dreadfleet
Dreadfleet is a board/
tabletop game designed for
two-ten players.
It is a fantasy naval war-
game, a lot different from
Man O’ War for those who
had a game of that back in
the day.
Players take control of up
to 5 fantasy ships and verse
the evil nemesis that is
Count Noctilis and his
Undead Reavers. Forces for
good include, The Empire,
High Elves, Dwarves, Araby
and Sartosa. The unholy
alliance is made up of Vam-
pire Counts, Skaven, Chaos
Dwarves, Dark Elves and
Tomb Kings.
The box set includes the
rulebook, 10 warships, 7
Cog auxiliaries, 1 Dragon
auxiliary, 1 Dwarf dirigible
auxiliary, a selection of
terrain with islands, sea
monsters and shipwrecks,
tactic cards, navigation
counters, game counters,
and of course, dice. The
game can be played on a
table top but the box also
includes a representation of
the ocean deeps beautifully
coloured on a piece of silk,
edged with nautical symbols
and looks a lot like a map. I
look forward to playing..

Contents include 30 Imperial
Roman Legionnaires, a Roman
Scorpion catapult and crew, and
60 Celt Warriors. A 196 page
hardcover rulebook.
With all of Warlord Games rule-
books, they are a collectable
themselves, depicting beautiful
art scenes by Osprey.
This is a great value starter set

some historical gaming or adding

lutely anywhere else or I really,
really want it right now...then look
online. People selling things online
are already emotionally detached
from that item. With gaming
they’re either getting out of the
hobby, selling for someone else,
or, after funding for another army
or similar. What I will do is if I see
Where does a collection really
start? I have spoken here about
buying a boxed starter set, but
where is the best way to go from
there? May I suggest...that you can
go to a shop and pay full price for
something all sealed in a nice box,
OR, go online for what you really
want. Ebay is obviously a good
place to start, Gumtree and Greys
Online here in Australia have had
no bids on an item that is getting

auction sale, if their item auction
falls through. This is ideal with
armies as with individual figures.

styrene product, spray paint or
harsh glues will destroy it.
Aquadhere does not and is a great
sealer if you are going to use any
aerosol paints. The only down side
being it takes a lot longer to dry.
For this I recommend pinning the
walls using (you guessed it) pins.
Make your box shape, secure with
glue and pins, leave overnight then
remove pins and it’s done. If you
run a bead of aquadhere along the
foam edges of the foamcard and
allow to dry this will let you use
spray paints to your hearts con-
tent without any issue to the
foamcard. It is very versatile to be-
ing covered with cardboard, balsa or
plasticard, and still maintain the
straight core sections of the struc-
ture you are creating. Its much
thicker than cardboard, but lighter
than heavy card, and easier to work
with. All cuts can be made with a
hobby blade, keeping safety upper-
most. There are plenty of ideas on
the net for buildings with foamcard.
Foamcard is available from hobby
shops and art stores stock it as well.
While there you can pick up the
balsa wood to add to your new
building. Good luck.
Foamcard...it’s up there with plas-
ticard as a most valuable gaming
aid. For roughly $10 a sheet that
can make you half of the buildings
on a 4 x 4 table, how can you go
wrong?
Foamcard or Foamcore is a thin
sheet of polystyrene foam pressed
between 2 thin sheets of card-
board. It comes in varying thick-
nesses, and is inexpensive as far as
gaming goes.
It will glue together with most
glues. I prefer aquadhere. The
reason for this as with any poly-

Last issue I wrote about Warlord
Miniatures Bolt Action set. I
would like to also have a men-
tion of another set available for
our historical gamers.
Conquest of Gaul is another War-
lord release, in the same setup of
Bolt Action, in regard to the box
contents. It includes the hardcov-
er book “Hail Caesar” rules with
the Osprey art, and fine detailed
plastic miniatures. I believe this
was their first starter box set
Last issue I promised to show a blow by blow of what came in my Bolt Action Box Set that I received for Christmas, so
without any further ado…
←The first picture shows the box. Nice artwork showing a battle be-
tween American and German forces, presumably in Normandy
Picture 2 is what greets you on opening the box, note the hardcover
rulebook full of Bolt Action rules, miniature photos and excellent colour
prints by Osprey→
←This picture and the next show you the forces available to you in the
box, and also a colour guide to painting , as well as safety tips and as-
sembly of the miniatures, German and American↓
If I had any issues it would only be a personal one, and that
is to use green plastic for the Americans to differentiate the
two forces just in case you wanted a few games before
painting...

What’s In The Box
←What everyone really wants...more miniatures and these
are nicely produced, showing very little flash allowing
quicker prep and assembly time
Bases are provided, as well as a selection of dice↓
Close up of a selection of American heads (sounds like a rock-band),
showing minute detail of faces and expressions↓
Terrain in a box is always great, and allows financial planning of buying
that village set, later→

What’s In The Box
S N A K E E Y E S
Dark Heresy is a role playing game set in the grim darkness of the 41st millenni-
um , the decaying dark future of Warhammer 40,000. Below is the background story of Bekki Imam, GGG
member Simon Machins’ character in Dark Heresy, continued from last issue.
Sister Krankies diaries Part 2
My name is Bekki Imam, I am an Acolyte of the Handmaidens of the Emperor, an Adepta Sororitas.
Several months later I found myself on a ship bound for my first mission. I was saddled with a group of misfits. They all seemed
the most unusual bunch of men and women I have ever come across. I was grouped with 2 Duskworlder guardsmen, one
named Carnno, an ugly brute who wore a mismatched dirty guardsman uniform. His companion, even uglier if that was possi-
ble, was named Brawn. Obviously they were assigned as the muscle for the group. There was also had a pale, small eared older
man in our party who had an obsession for blades, named Grim Trauma. He has an aura of uneasiness around him. He seems
to have no soul, but for some reason he is my charge. Uncle Gelly sent me a coded message just as we got away on the mission
that it was my duty to keep that man alive as he is special. I don’t know why, but i trust my uncle and i must do my duty. The
Emperor protects.
The other party members of our squad is the Commander, the designated leader of the group. She is more than she appears.
She has a way about her that goes beyond the normal air of authority. When she speaks she expects her orders to be followed,
as though she is the most important person in the room, and in this case, she is. I believe that she is some noble born person-
age. I will follow her orders only if they don't contradict the Emperors Will. We also had a Enginseer attached to the squad. A
Mars Tech, often more machine than man, and that’s where their obedience lays. I have worked with them before. They are so
different and yet we are more alike than I would openly admit.
Today we were visited by inquisitor Gelts, Chief Agent on the Scout Cobra Class Destroyer. He was a member of the navigator
elite, Navigator Mordechai Nae’tol of the noble family Nae’tol. He outlined our mission. it was simple. Board the ancient ship
that has been lost in the warp for six hundred years and retrieve the information from Inquisitor Arazmus. I knew the mission
would be more than easy as we boarded the transfer cutter and travelled to the ship. What could be a threat after six hundred
years? I didn't travel well across the void of space, and as the ship lurched badly I lost my lunch and was sick. I was so embar-
rassed, and of course my squad mates teased me, irrespective of whatever rank I believed I held. Somehow they found out my
pet name and started to call me Sister Kranky. It had never bothered me before, but now as I couldn't talk due to my vow it
grated on me. Maybe it was because I didn’t speak, that they believed that they could say such things to me. An
Adepta Sororitas. I had my first serious mission I needed to prove myself.
We boarded the ship, the air was foul. We searched the area and were backed up by Squad Hobbs, a naval guardsman squad
from our ship. Our first indication of the state of the ship was found immediately. Blasphemous writings were found written on
the walls of the corridors we first came across. I understood some of the writings and became sick, and then immediately
prayed to the Emperor for faith and strength to overcome. I was rewarded with a calming feeling that freed my mind, body and
7
S N A K E E Y E S
soul of any blasphemous influence. Soon after we came across a mummified body of an astronaut. The state of the body was
older than the six hundred years that the ship was reputed to be lost in the warp.
Suddenly we were set upon by some small purple skin humanoid creatures. Mutants of the ships crew. I detest the mutant, as
they allowed to forces of chaos to change them. Weak willed detestable creatures. I immediately drew my firearm and shot
the closest creature in the head and chest, killing it outright. The rest of the squad fanned out and were set upon more of the
creatures. My squad mates started to show why they were picked by the Inquisition, slaughtering several of the creatures
without suffering a single casualty. The mutants ran away. We followed deeper into the ship. We were set upon by them again
but we slew even more the second time and once again they ran away, those that could. The mutants deserve no pity of mine.
Those who choose to embrace chaos deserve to be cleansed from the Emperors Light.
We ended up in a storage facility area that contained several poorly maintained servitors. For some reason several of the
squad were assaulted by a servitor for no reason. One moment the servitor was ignoring the squad and the next we were be-
ing assaulted by them. The Duskworlders were proving their strength and endurance. Brawn was thrown against the wall with
such force by the servitor he dented the wall but amazingly got up and blasted the servitor with his lasgun into shards of
broken metal and chunks of rotten meat.
The squad is seeming to function well. We all have our strengths and weakness but we complement each other.
Grim Trauma disappears into the vents. He gets into trouble, and Brawn and myself rescue him. He was surrounded by the
mutants and being slowly beaten to death. Brawn charges into them like a mad man rescues Grim. I keep the mutants off
Brawn's back. We save Grim Trauma. We search the area and with the Tech Priests help, were able to get a powerless lift to
function. We move up to the next level. The squad splits up. I go with the Duskworlder Brawn, the Commander, and the dis-
tasteful man Grim Trauma up to the next level.
We immediately find ourselves beset by more servitors. I assaulted the nearest one and proceeded to smash it to pieces with
my flail. I turned and joined the others who were having a lot of issues finding a weak spot on the remaining servitor. I help
finish off the last servitor when I heard the empty click of a weapon misfiring behind me. I turn to see a strange human
pointing a gun at the floor trying to unjam it. I immediately charged the human and smashed him from groin to head, again
using my flail. He collapsed in a broken heap. I feel elated at finally being able to kill the enemies of the Emperor. We ascertain
that he has recently arrived on the ship and is not an Imperial Agent. Too bad if he was as he is dead now.
Several more humans assaulted us but as we were blessed by the Emperor, we succeeded killing them as well. After the fight,
Grim trauma suggested that they may have been pirates. We conferred with our other team members and decided we wait to
hear from the other Squad. While waiting, we searched the crates in the area. Brawn found a unique archeotech weapon,
some kind of energy shotcannon. As Brawn found the weapon, we called it the ’Brawn’ gun.
The rest of our squad on the lower level, were also attacked by Pirates. Hobbs’ squad, the ships Commissar and his aide, a
Ratling scout joined in the defence of the squad. Hobbs squad suffered several causalities but the Pirates were successfully
repelled.

come far too expensive. So now I find my self content with Necro-munda gangs and Warhammer Fan-tasy Roleplay. It remains cheap, easy, with almost infinite combina-tions of rules and customization.
Though I probably wont leave it there, as I am still young. I plan to have collected all the Necromunda gangs, and later in life will collect a Space marine Blood Angels army again, big enough to be able to play a 5000pt game, and a Warhammer Fantasy Chaos army enough to play a 5000pt game.
For those new to Warhammer 40k and all the smaller games, I would always suggest starting off with something small such as Necromun-da or Mordheim as they use a sim-pler rule set where players run few-er models.
I first started playing Warhammer 40k back when I was quite young. I used to implement my own rules with my friends and then throw min-iatures at each other. This made my father very angry as these minia-tures were his, and often became broken.
Growing up, my father has always had an abundance of Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, Necromunda, and all the other Games workshop relat-ed material and as such I started to join in and finally purchase some of my own.
Blood Angels was always my true calling, as I loved the way they were some what chaotic and blood thirsty, yet remained lawful. But as time turned a new page, I found repopulating my army with all new and wacky creations that it had be-
