Every Copley High SchoolStudent Must Complete And Document 12 Hours Of Community Service To Graduate
PREVIOUS PROCESS
• In the past, CHS students would obtain a reporting form, volunteer somewhere, and turn the form in to the coordinator in May.
• Challenges With This System:• Time consuming for the coordinator• Students lost forms• Students had trouble finding volunteer opportunities• Difficult to verify the authenticity of participation• Difficult to track completed hours and notify students who were needing more hours

• Online Non-profit Organization Sponsors Website That Does The Following:• Allows students to find volunteer
opportunities in surrounding communities• Allows service organizations & others to post
volunteer opportunities • Allows students to have service hours posted

Steps to Participate With UGIVE
#1 – Check your email to verify you received UGIVE email
#2 – Go to www.ugive.org , sign-in, get to know the site
#3 – Look over the current and upcoming opportunities
#4 – Sign up to participate, attend function, sign in, and work
#5 – UGIVE does the rest – records new hours & updates totals
#6 – Check UGIVE to ensure the correct number of hours is there

Choose opportunity from UGIVE.ORG,
complete the hours,& UGIVE will add the hours toward your 12
Decide to work @ aCHS event and have the event
coordinator verify your hours
Choose an activity that’s worthwhile,
get the activity approved,get the verification
letter filled out, and thenturn it in to us
CHS OPPORTUNITIES
• Academic Challenge – an hour of training and several hours during Saturday tournament*Next tournament is February 26th
• Mulch Madness• Haunted Halls• Spaghetti Dinner• More to be added – encourage supervisors to contact us to list more events
VOLUNTEER HOUR CRITERIA
• Hours should be earned doing two or more different activities (ex. Spaghetti Dinner & volunteering at nursing home)
• Hours must be volunteer – you cannot receive money for your time/work
• Hours are completed for those in need outside of your home – can’t count working for parents
• All documentation for 12-hour requirement is due by April 30th
Double - Dipping
• Students MAY use the same volunteer hours to meet the senior graduation requirement as well as other organizational volunteer requirements
• Includes scouting, church, Key Club, NHS, etc.
IF YOU HAVE THE OLD FORM WITH HOURS DOCUMENTED – TURN THOSE IN TO MS. WION.
THESE MUST BE TURNED IN TO MS. WION BY FEBRUARY 28TH – NO OLD FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE!
